Good Quality Tube Skirt

fooolofbeans · 25/03/2014 08:07

Hi there, the title says it all recently. I've lived in jeans all winter and want my clothes to feel a bit 'springlike' now ð???

I bought a jersey midi tube skirt in grey from H&M. It was only a tenner so I can't really complain about the quality... But I'm going to.... It's soooo thin you can see every curve of my bum and line of my pants and it would just make me self conscious to wear outside.

Can anyone recommend a nice midi tube skirt ideally grey or navy, that's made of decent quality material please?

TIA

Can't link right now but Whistles do navy and black double layered ones in two lengths, there was a whole fred about it. Pricy but I've got a lot of wear out of mine.

I have this one from TopShop, it's double layered and washes well. I think it comes in various colours as well, I've seen it in grey in the shop.

I second Topshop - I have it in a few colours and it's great..

I have a couple of Topshop ones. The orange one has bobbled really badly. The black one still looks ok, good length, quite thick and "hold you in" material. I sized down too.

argh it appears i'm abit late to the tube skirt party

the topshop double layered number is out of stock if i size down, as all the reviews seem to recommend for a good fit

madbuslady, likewise whistles has a load reduced on the website but all out of stock in my size, although there is a £60 grey one, which is looking like the best so far, would prefer topshop prices though!!

cats, are all of yours from topshop double layered, or are the single layered good enough quality as they are?

HI The Awful Daughter, it was a single listing, however i searched 'topshop double layer tube skirt' and lots of the black and grey came up. i suppose its just pot luck if there listed in your size.

unsure if this works

Good Luck

The Matalan ones are really good, I've got a H&M one and agreed it is awful , but the Matalan ones are loads thicker and hide a multitude of sins!

The Whistles one (black or navy) is brilliant. I tried the cheaper Top Shop double layered version first but it went saggy and bobbly very quickly.

Me and Em also did a ruched one in several colours (including grey) last season. I'm sorry I can't link at the moment but try their website. It was even spendier than Whistles but it gives you a great shape.

Thanks for the input floisme, comparison of the topshop and whistles helps.

I'll have to start saving, and hope whistles they get my size back in
stock soon

I'll have a look at the me&em ones now

Oh sorry, op, you've already got the Top Shop ones haven't you? Blush Definitely worth it for £7 though.

I've got whistles one - not worn yet. I got knee length in black and thinking of going back for navy for summer - will wear with Hasbeens or Birkenstocks -

I've seen me & em and they look nice - wondered if too short for me though.

Does the Matalan one only come in black and grey?

DaftSkunk · 26/03/2014 06:09

ilona I think so, I have it in grey and black and having a look on their website I don't think the others are double layer.

I have the Matalan one - it was £8 - and it did me great for a whilebut has gotten very bobbly now. Hush also do a similar ruched skirt for £35 which is probably decent quality. Also, if you really want the Whistles one I suggest you phone or email their customer service department and ask them to check if they have your size in any of their stores. I did this late last night and first thing this morning got an email back to say they had set one aside for me in their Thayer Street store and gave me the number to call them to arrange delivery and payment over the phone - absolutely brilliant customer service! Very impressed.

I have the whistles ones in the longer length in black and navy. The black one has been worn one or twice per week since November and still looks new. No fading or bobbling, fantastic quality.
I have only just purchased the navy one, but it is identical to the black one so I expect it will be of the same quality.
They are more expensive but they last several times longer than cheaper ones, so I focus on cost per wear.
I am a 12 and wear the size 12, I could size down but prefer not to encourage my knickers to show with a too tight skirt, so wear my normal size. It still pulls me in around the tummy.
