I'm looking for a 1950s inspired dress........help!

I'm going to a wedding in the summer and would love to try something a little different. I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and would love to wear something 1950s inspired.

Am thinking 'Audrey Hepburn', fitted top half, flared out bottom half and a netted skirt.

Can anyone suggest where to start looking?

This doesn't come with a net skirt (though you could probably buy a petticoat), but it's cheap. F&F.

I buy from www.topvintage.nl

A Dutch site so not ideal if you're ordering from the uk (I'm in NL) but they have a range of brands (including loads already mentioned here) so you can browse and then search for them on their British site. They have really accurate sizing charts as well.

If you live near Nottingham there is a fab shop called Frock that specialise in this style of dress. Dd & I gave longingly every time we drive past! Not sure if they are online.

There is a company called K&D London, they used to sell in Dorothy Perkins.

A lot of their style is 50's inspired.

They're a fraction of the cost of Vivienne of Holloway. Have a scout on eBay for them. I have a lot of their dresses and I love them. Grin

Hello ladies
I've seen some fab dresses, thank you so much. I'm now having trouble deciding.

Is a petticoat a must? I don't just want the dress to hang, I want it to have a bit of body.
Also, what type of shoes?

I'm thinking of a 50s restyle too but also desperately wanted to know what to do about shoes!!!
