I get stuck on this one every year - shoes for spring that flatter big feet?

I am tall (5ft10) and slim-ish (size 12). The bottom halves of my legs are particularly skinny so my feet (size 8 and also long and skinny!) can easily look huge and flappy in flattish shoes - ballet flats look particularly hideous on me - but I don't like wearing heels during the day.

So can anybody point me in the direction of some shoes for spring that will go with most things and won't make me look like Coco the Clown? BTW I have Converse which I wore constantly with my skinny jeans last year but I'm so bored with looking the same all the time.

My mum used to say never wear shoes in a lighter colour than your hemline as they make your feet look big. Advise that I follow most of the time but not always. My feet are only a 4 though so I sometimes have the opposite problem Smile

Watching this with interest as I am also a size 8 and would love elegant and pretty feet instead of clown boats.

I have a particular problem in that I have to walk 3.5 miles a day on my commute so don't want to wear heels. And al brogue styles make me feel so unfeminine.

I'm in a similar position and I would suggest you try wedges!

I have wedge sandals, peep-toes, shoe-boots... and they look and feel great in most situations Smile

I have cupboards full of shoes and don't wear most of them as I can't walk to work in them.
I might have to go back to the ugly trainers for the walk and nicer shoes for the office.

Agree with wedges. How about something like this?

I feel your pain, I'm only 5ft 5, with the skinniest ankles you have ever seen, with massive feet on the end of them! Pretty much all footwear looks bad on me, including wedges. Low chunky heels with rounded toes look the best on me, something like this: www.schuh.co.uk/hush-puppies/womens-turquoise-hush-puppies-misha/1152275620/ but since I walk everywhere, I can't wear them during the day. I'm trying to embrace and celebrate my big feet, but it's not working!

I'm a size 9, sometimes seeing all of the pretty shoes that only go up to an 8 makes me want to chop my toes off! Grin

I love flip flops but find that they make my feet look even larger, so tend to go for ballerina pumps, wedges, heeled sandals or canvas pumps in the summer.

I'm 5"10 and a size 8 shoe and I livein Birkenstock Madrids in summer. I wear a 39 wide and because there's not much too them they don't make my feet look huge.

Im an 8 too and have honestly never cared about how big my trotters look. They probably look like clown feet with my skinny ankles but i just don't care. I wear whatever shoes take my fancy and if i look like a right angle, so be it lol

I too have never ever noticed the size of somebody's feet. Only their shoes if i like the look of them.

My feet are a size 8 and I don't think they look big as I am used to them looking like that.

My feet are size 7 and I'm 5ft 8in, I'm more concerned with my feet looking too small - long feet are elegant, I think you are worrying needlessly. Those wedge trainers make feet look tiny, my wedge sandals don't create the same effect.

My feet are as long as they are wide (ok maybe not quite, but I do have duck's flippers!) and I have found wedge shoes excellent at making my feet look in proportion. Flats look terrible. If you have thin feet, I would recommend shopping for narrow sizes. Clarks or Duo have a good selection, as well Stuart Weizman in the US (if you have the budget and don't mind shopping online). In fact, there is a long list of US based shoe retailers who cater for non standard widths. Have a look at Zappos

Sz 8 very narrow feet here and ankles so skinny that I have to buy bespoke boots.

Suede desert boots (crepe=natural rubber soles are fantastic for walking, comfier than trainers) are my ultimate spring shoe. (I've put in sheepskin insoles.)
Loafers for warmer days.

Brogues make my feet look bigger as do any pointy-toed shoes.
Light shoes (whites or the very fashionable white-soled skater shoes) are a no-no. White sneakers = elephant feet.

On rainy days, I love to wear my olive green Ilse Jacobsen short laceup wellies.

Anything with heel or wedge visually shortens my feet.
Summer go-tos: wedge sandals.

How about Clarkes Compass Zone Orange Suede, look very dainty and cheerful for nicer days.

Yes, I feel your pain. Legs and shoes= golf club.

Heels shorten, my feet. In summer wedges are my friend. I did find some Dune leopard print loafers last year which looked ok. They came up my foot quite high, and the leopard print possibly broke up the view of my feet. But the style has changed slightly this year and I don't think they work as well.

I'm considering these this year, scroll down to see on models feet, they look better on!

gymboywalton um actually yes I have. Maybe this is because of my personal obsession with big feet!

then rather than spending time trying to find shoes that make your feet look smaller, you should spend your time getting over your foot fear!!

big feet are great especially if you are tall. if they were small and you were tall you'd fall over!
