Miracle stuff? Micellar water?

Ok, anybody familiar with this stuff? It seems to be widely used in France. It's a water with no chemicals that you use on a cotton pad to clean your face and even remove your eye make up. Supposedly even suits sensitive skin. I don't think its meant to be an alternative to proper cleansing but ideal for travelling or when you're tired/busy.
Bioderma, Avene, Garnier all make it. I believe Superdrug do one too.
I'd love to know if anybody has used it and how you rate it.

I use it when I want a "quick" clean eg at 2 am! They are very gentle, but extremely effective. The Superdrug one is just as good as other brands I have tried

It's a bit emperor's new clothes, as far as I can see. It's rubbish on my sensitive skin and ineffective if I just use as an eye make up remover. It's the new cleansing wipes, i think.

I use the Biodermo Sensibio Micelle Solution. It's brilliant and it's a cult classic among makeup artists now. It's cheap too.

I've been using the Lancôme one on and off for 2 or 3 years. I've got v sensitive skin and I like it. Still do proper cleansing/toning if I have time and use the eau micellaire if I'm knackered.

I'm sensitive to many cleansers and wipes and get acne from oils, but this seems to remove every last trace of mineral makeup without triggering acne and perioral dermatitis. So I use Bioderma Sensibio (same as Crealine apparently).

Also use it on biro, paint, etc DC have smeared themselves with. DD2 had applied lipstick all over her eyelids and face at a playdate yesterday and micellar water sorted it out in seconds.

The Bioderma Sensibio is brilliant. Removes makeup really well and non drying. Best product I have found in ages and its a great price.

I love the Bioderma one - proper removal of make up with no nasty astringent feeling. I do follow it with a second cleanse with a lotion/balm + flannel, and I only use if I've been wearing make up or SPF.

Bioderma is definitely my favourite. I use it as a pre cleanse, gets eye make up off and majority of foundation but there is usually still foundation washed off on my flannel on my proper cleanse so not enough alone.

It is good for touching up make up mistakes too as it doesn't smudge everything around, a bit on a cotton bud cleans up my eyeliner mistakes well!

I've got the La Roche Posay one and don't like it at all, it doesn't shift eye make-up terribly well and somehow the cotton wool feels scratchy on my skin using it.

It is, however, great for getting face paint off the DCs and for cleaning make-up brushes.

I love them and have tried all sorts over the years including Bioderma. The cheap ones from Loreal and Garnier are just as great (I think). I use everyday, morning and night. Other cleansers (Liz Earle, anything foaming) irritate my skin.

It is absolutely not 'water with no chemicals'. How else would it take make-up off your face, if not for chemicals? Anyway, I find micellar water very effective. I use the L'Oreal one.

I've got the Avene one.

And I suspect it's Emperor's New Clothes as it's exactly like the 70/80s cleanser/toner 10-0-6. Does what it says it does, though.

Micellar waters explained here and here. I mainly like them because mine does not contain SLS and phenoxyethanol and because they dissolve types of makeup that water and soap won't shift. I also use hairspray and vodka for stain removal

I got the loreal one in a set for Christmas. It's just water and glycerine! I used to make this as a teen from a recipe in Jackie with rosewater and glycerine from the chemist!

Financeprincess, "Water with no chemicals" was, I accept, an inaccurate description. It was my way of saying the one I liked the sound of was SLS and phenoxyethanol free.

Dd 15 has got the super drug one, it even gets rid of her black cats eye liner. Is about 2.50 so for trying out it's ok. I've been hot clothing at night then using it in morning. It's ok.

Bioderma Crealine is the gold standard micellar water. It most definitely is "proper" cleansing - it is extremely thorough and gentle.

I've tried loads of different brands of micellar water, by the way - I have an endless supply of cosmetics freebies from my DP's work - and, boringly, cheap and ubiquitous Bioderma Crealine really is the best!

Been using Bioderma for 2 years now. Get into a panic if it is running low.
All others poor imitations in my humble opinion. Go purchase!
