Help! I'm 5ft2 and built like a barrel. I need a dress to wear to a wedding.

I have to go to a bloody wedding. For 5 years I've gotten away without going to a wedding, now there is a definite one and a possibility of a second no less. I need a dress. I'm small, and at least a size 14 with massive norks, flabby arms and post baby flabby belly (though that excuse is getting old at this stage). I'm a definite apple shape, but empire line just makes me look pregnant. I have no idea what is in and I need style gurus to give me dress ideas. I've a budget of no more than £100. Help me please!!!

What about this Wallis one- it comes in navy too if the coral isn't for you.

Tethers, I have to say I think the Cos one wouldn't do anyone with a big bust many favours... Sorry.

I must see can I find any stockists where I could try it on locally - it's not something I'd normally go for myself, but that's why I'm here.

I'm afraid I might look like this

Thanks so much for responding Thanks

Or this Phase Eight one?

I quite like that Wallis one. I'm not sure if I could pull off Coral, but I have changed my hair colour recently so maybe I could. I think the shape might be good, and I like the long sleeve.

The Phase Eight one is fab, but would come down past my calves unfortunately.

I was looking at this but am wondering is it a bit frumpy? The ruching could be my friend?

I fear I'm a similar shape, and I have an earlier version of the Wallis dress and always get compliments. It kind of skims the undesirable bits and looks chic. It also doesn't crease. Phase Eight are also good for well cut dresses for the less than perfect figure.

That style of dress does suit me. Just browsing the Wallis site at the mo and there are a few definite possibilities!!!

What about this one - possibly not a very wedding-y colour though.

Lace sleeves always good for less-than-toned arms Wink

The only problem I have with Coast is that I was at a wedding where there were 3 sets of dress twins and 1 set of dress triplets all wearing Coast. One of the triplets was the bride (wedding abroad, celebration back home after).

I'm quite drawn to the Wallis dress I have to say. How would you accesorise that colour?

Hobbs £79
The crisscross wrap would be flattering on your waist, plus the sleeves solve the arm issue! You could accessorise with a bright colour for shoes/jewellery.

Ooh I love that asos one and the Gerard Darel one hides credit card

Burnished gold looks good with orange.

This doesnt look much online but I'm a similar build to you and bought it recently. I got loads of compliments - it's cheap as chips and can be done up with a bright, structured blazer and heels. The fabric is really heavy so it hides the tummy (mine is big!)m.dorothyperkins.com/mt/www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/dresses-203543/view-all-dresses-2523253/black-paisley-skater-dress-2563164?bi=49&ps=24

Yeah, I have to say, the ASOS one is fab. I wonder would I get away with it with a 'one boob bigger than the other' issue? I paint a great picture, don't I? Grin
