At the minute I'm using Nivea but like something a little bit harsher.

Could anyone recommend a good exfoliating facial scrub please

Why on earth do you want to use something harsh on your face?

Are you sure you need to exfoliate?

I know scrubbing feels nice and 'clean', but your skin won't thank you for it in the long run.

That St Ives apricot one is the best, IMHO. It's proper scrubby and leaves my skin nice and soft.

I second st Ives.

The sea salt one from Lush is fantastic. I use it once a fortnight.

I've tried St Ives apricot. It's okay.
Currently, I just use Ivory bar soap and give my face a proper scrub with a washcloth every few days. It seems to exfoliate just fine and get the dead skin accumulation off. Wouldn't want to do it every day, as it's a little harsh and leaves my skin red for an hour or so after. Every few days/couple of times a week seems to work for me; the other days, I just use soap, no washcloth.
I've also started using Witch Hazel as a toner. I rub it on my face with a cotton ball before bed, and it seems to make my face nice and smooth, and my pores smaller.

Clinique Exfoliating Scrub - not the 7 day scrub one, the Exfoliating Scrub. The beads in it are synthetic (not ground-up apricot kernels like St Ives) and so they are perfectly spherical and will give your skin a good clean and exfoliate without scratching. It won't irritate your skin, it just takes off the dead skin and leaves it really smooth. I love it and have never found anything anywhere near as good.

Came on to say EXACTLY what emsyj said. Nothing else comes close. It does precisely what you want in terms of harshness.

Superdrug Vitamin E scrub - has oatmeal pieces instead of anything scratchy but is still effective. Also, use a flannel to wash your face with instead of just your hands - the flannel will naturally be a bit scrubby.

I use the Botanics one which is ok. I'm going to retry the Superdrug Vit E one when I run out.

Origins modern friction is hardcore. Particularly if you use it on dry skin. £30 though, but you'd only use a smidge once a week.

I love the Lz Earle one. Very gentle but effective and it smells great

Apparently my DGM only washed her face with water, but then she never used makeup. She had fabulous skin.

I make my own with sugar lemon and honey, it works better than any scrub and leaves your face smooth and glowing

Body shop vit c microdermabasion (not the daily scrub). Around tenner and very effective - I prefer it to the origins one mentioned upthread. But better than a scrub is the Eve Lom cleanser, used with a flannel daily. Skin never looked so clear.

What emsyj said, the Clinique one, NOT the 7 day one which is nowhere near scrubby enough.
Reminds me, I need to buy some more.
