I've just tried the new loreal red ombre kit. dP looked like he was going to cry when I asked what he thought and followed up with "looks nice but I think you missed the top if you were going red" god love hi so I've turned to MN. Does it look ok or should I dye over it with brown?

Um ... Have to agree with your DP I'm afraid. Sorry!

Yes, I'm afraid I have to join the consensus. It's too blocky and the colours don't compliment one another.

TBH it looks like you could do with a good trim as well as a solid colour.

I would dye it brown or all red. It looks like you have been growing out the red dye not really ombre. Agree you could do with a trim (so could I tbh!).

Ah crap. Ok will go over it with a brown. I really liked the alternative ombre look but guess its not for me.
Yes mrslettuce definately! I was booked in for trim last week but I turned up and my hairdresser had gone to hospital. I don't like the other person they offered me so i came home. Going to book back in when she is back.

Quite right, never a good idea to compromise with choice of hairdresser Wink

Do you have some coconut oil (or almond oil) that you could do an overnight treatment with after the extra dying?

I think you need more colour contrast for ombré. Also, don't know if it's just me, but ombré seems to have gone the way of various other no-longer-edgy looks (eg black nail polish) because it's become a bit ubiquitous...

Mrslettuce I've been putting Jamaican black castor oil on my scalp and an argon oil on my hair because I went very blonde last year and it ruined my hair hence the need for very regular trims now! I have a fear of new hairdressers since one gave me ginger patchy highlights instead of the light brown and copper ones I'd paid for!
