Osprey bags - any good?

Just thinking of buying a festive treat for myself in the way of an Osprey leather bag.

Something like this: www.tkmaxx.com/view-all-accessories/black-leather-tote-bag/invt/11468450&bklist=icat,4,shop,1,9085

I haven't seen their bags in the shop and won't be going to the shops now until after Xmas and new year sales, so can anyone tell me if they are good quality and a nice product as I will be buying online?

I am deciding between the leather and the leather 'snake' effect

Yes they are. They're a very old, well established company. I have a friend who works in one of their stand alone shops, they can be really expensive.
I've got a couple that I bought from TKMaxx a few years ago, they are lovely & were a fraction of the price in their shops or in department stores.

I have one of their purses from TK Maxx, it's used every day, I don't look after it Blush and it still looks new!

That sounds positive.

Would you go for snake effect or plain leather

Great quality. They tend to go for rather old fashioned shapes though.

I had one and thought it was very poor quality. Within six months the stitching was starting to unravel, the dye was rubbing off in patches and it creased really badly. I took it back but they couldn't have been less interested. Wouldn't buy another one.

I used to work for a company that sold Osprey, their stuff is great quality, okay slightly more expensive but rarley have an issue with any of their products. They look nice and work well :)

I've got the one you linked to and it's gorgeous. My mum salivated and she won't spend more than a tenner on a bag and my husband (the glaswegian bodybuilder) raves about the quality.

I hope not as I bought it from an Osprey shop!

I live near one of their outlet shops and totally heart their stuff. Especially at reduced prices.

I have the same bag and paid around the same price. Tis lush.

Mine is still looking great after some years, and ditto the key fob and wallet a friend gave me. The leather is nice and does not show marks or scratches, and the stitching is very good.

DH bought me an orange Maudie for Christmas last year and I get compliments whenever I take it out. I absolutely love it and it still looks good after a year of pretty heavy use.

Looks like I must have just got a dud bag! It was a shame as it was a nice shape and colour.

I did get a dud bag once and took it back to the outlet shop and they were lovely and swapped it over.

I got one from TK MAXX and after a year the lining stitching went (both compartments). I'm bracing myself to try to fix it, because it's fine otherwise, but it will be a sod of a job and my local shoe place refused to try.

Lucky you HalleLouja! They basically told that it was my fault and I must have done something to it. This was the Gunwharf Quays shop.

That is crap. The people in Hatfield / St Albans store are always really lovely.

I have a lovely camel coloured one I bought from TK Maxx. It's the same shape and style as the one you've linked to. I loved it. Had it two years and it's only at the back of the cupboard now because it needs a it of a clean. Sturdy, good quality, stylish and sophisticated.

The moc croc ones look disappointingly cheap and plasticy in real life (they actually look like they're not real leather), whereas the plain leather ones look much better quality. That's what I would go for personally. The ones I've had have lasted well.

fresh I want a Maudie!

All the colours are lovely.

Does it work well as a cross body bag?
