I bought a couple of things recently with Christmas/New Year nights out in mind but no complete outfit yet.

I'm an 18 and rather short.

I bought these two from Pink Clove jacket
and
skirt

and I like this from White Stuff tunic

Unfortunately none of these go together so ideas needed.

Anyone else like to share they are wearing for Christmas Day and night out?

Wow never heard of pink clove, I love the jacket but I couldn't wear it, norks too big so it's the wrong shape for me. I need to have a browse.

I'm size 20, curvy shape with good décolleté but horrible rugby player legs and cankles. Can't link atm as in phone but will be back later.

Never heard of pink clove either. It also would not suit me as an apple with as, Tigerfeet says, big norks. However it looks very nice-maybe dress it up with dressy trews??? You know the sort of floaty things in a slinky fabric. If you prefer a skirt I think a straight one/pencil skirt would look better with it or perhaps a plain dress underneath - like a sheath - unless like me you are apple shaped-then you would look more like a sack of King Edwards! Or a nice pair of leggings?

I doubt I will be buying anything to wear Christmas time as I am unemployed and not going anywhere apat from maybe a meal with friends but will have to make do with what I have got.

Evening, I think I fit into your size criteria too & am also looking for Christmas wear.
I have this Coast top which I do like & it is flattering but it's not the most exciting. I rather wanted to try this sequin Coast top but it was sold out in my size. Looks like it might be back again now so I might try it and maybe swap.

Re: your links, the Pink Clove jacket is polyester & I am not sure it'll look good in real life? The white stuff tunic is nice but you must have decent upper arms as I avoid sleeveless like the plague, my wings look awful.

Hi girls, I'm a size 18 and 5ft1 !! Really find it hard to get clothes and sometimes am too scared to even go to the shops, I only have a couple of outfits as I don't like going to the shops and wishing I could wear prettier things. Would also love to join this thread and see how other ladies dress need some inspiration xxx

Evening all. For some reason my phone won't open coast links so looking forward to seeing those tomorrow.

Not sure if I will go out much over Christmas either Deathwatch but I'm hoping to find a nice outfit so I'll be ready if the chance of a night out presents itself.

Team I'm 5'2 so we are very similar. Do you ever buy online? Definitely more choice than in the shops.

For Christmas Day I'd like something like this sequin jumper, but cheaper! I don't know if it would suit or not. I'm generally looking lumpy in all the jumpers in the shops right now but hoping a fine knit jumper might work.
teamswitzerland I hate shopping in person, take 10 items in the changing room and they all look awful. My solution is to buy on line, mostly using JL click and collect so free, next day collection and free easy returns. I buy tons of stuff and send 80% back but it works and I get to try in the comfort of my own home, with the right shoes/trousers etc.

Lovely jumper Chewbaca but the price!!! I can never find jumpers that look good on me but agree it is a good option for Christmas Day.

I have a recommendation but don't know how to link on phone. Simply Be crochet trim tunic dress. I have it in black and it has been my go-to dressy top for ages. Very flattering on. I like the fact that it ties in the back to give it shape and has sleeves for all those who dislike their arms.

Thinking of getting it in another colour.

Dh ordered this gathered band Boden tunic for me yesterday in red. I already have it in blue and the red one is my Christmas present and I'll wear it on Christmas Day. I am 5ft 3 and a 22 with H cup chest. I think it's very flattering and pretty - and jolly Grin

The Boden looks nice Northern, that sort of neckline is normally v flattering for me. Problem is, bra often tries to peek out, does this dress cover your bra? I have never managed to find a decent with half cups (is that what it's called?)

Report
NorthernLurker · 09/11/2013 22:15

Yes it does. I sometimes find I need to be sneaky with the small safety pins with Boden necklines but this was just right - displays cleavage not bra and I was wearing quite a high cut bra with it. It's a sort of viscose stretchy material. Hangs nicely but also clings nicely round the bust. I'm really pleased with it. I'll get another colour if any left in the sale.

Report
Chewbecca · 09/11/2013 22:18

Not sure there's going to be many left actually, there's a lot of sold out signs already, mostly in the larger sizes, another sign it's a good 'un.
Wil have to dig out a discount code, can't bear paying full price for Boden.
What do you wear on your feet with it? I see and like all the ankle boots but they look awful on me, make me look really stumpy.

Report
peachesandpickles · 09/11/2013 22:24

Not that one Chewbaca but I like it in black. The one I have has crochet at the neck. I'll link tomorrow when I'm on computer.

I like the Boden tunic too.

I've two pairs of mid calf boots. I wear those. Tbh I'm 5ft 3. I AM stumpy Grin Meh - I need comfy, warm feet!

I think mid calf boots are great for us shorter women too Northern. I bought the Clarks NationalSugar ones that were linked on here and I am living in them.

Um I might have linked those Blush I have them too - in brown and just ordered the grey ones which have 33% off atm. Blush Blush Blush

I have a question btw. SInce I discovered leggings and tunics I wear them more and more and trousers less and less but I noticed that M&S have some nice coloured velvety cords in atm. Anybody have those? What are they like?

Report
Chewbecca · 09/11/2013 22:33

I think it is because I have unusually large feet for my height (7) that I am very conscious of how mahoosive that style of boots looks on me. Would love to wear them, I'm sure they look great.
I have ordered the boden tunic but need to sort footwear out pronto or it's indoor wear only!

Report
peachesandpickles · 09/11/2013 22:37

Well if it was you who linked them then a big thanks from me. It's the happiest I've been with a footwear purchase in years. I contemplated the grey too. I might investigate the sale.

Haven't seen the M&S cords. For some reason I am very conservative about leg wear even though my legs are the slimmest part of me.

Grin The boots are fab aren't they?

Chewbecca - maybe ballet style slippers then?

Re: trousers, I actually get on very well with Per Una Roma Straight Leg jeans - they're always a good fit so I would be tempted to try. I'm not sure which velvet ones you mean. I do find that M&S short is right for me at 5'0 so I would try Medium length as well for someone 5'3?
There's 20% off per Una all weekend so I was hoping to buy a new pair of jeans but all 16 Short are sold out annoyingly.
Re: ballet slippers, yes I do have some and they do not look so BIG on me. I've been looking for a pair of 'slipper' shape shoes lately too but not found the perfect ones yet. I like the brogues too but again, they really don't flatter my calves at all.
It is hard work!

northern I have that Boden top too and love it! Have blue and brown. Can't wear red as doesn't suit my colouring - but agree it will make a lovely Christmas day top. And - unlike a sweater, however nice -not too hot if slaving over the oven and imbibing plenty of fizz!
