Is it worth buying knee length boots to wear with dresses any more??

Sorry, this is very like an existing thread but relates to long boots and dresses, not skirts (which I don't wear).

I have the choice of putting a Duo credit note towards a pair of ankle length, or knee length, boots. I don't actually NEED need ankle length boots as I have two good pairs already (both black). But, as a bit of an indulgence, I'd enjoy and use a pair in tan and/or a completely different style.

On other hand, my only pair of knee high boots are pretty much clapped out and there's a style in Duo I like and which fit me. But is the whole dress and boots look passé/ frumpy now?

I don't want to save the credit for shoes, as I don't think Duo shoes quite cut it - something a little frumpy about them (just my opinion).

Views, please, on what I should do. TIA.

I think you should get the tan ankle boots. Sounds like you would get wear out of them.

I wouldn't get rid of a good pair of knee length boots as they will eventually come back in. But I definitely wouldn't replace any currently.

I've just bought some lovely knee high boots from duo.

Definitely go for knee high. Ankle boots are on the way out Wink

Another vote for knee-high here. I actually like both looks, and it is nice to ring the changes and sometimes wear one way then the other.

But as you have said you already have ankle boots, and your knee highs are on the way out, then def replace those.

I like ankle boots and knee length boots and don't think either will ever go out of fashion.

The only knee high boot look I really don't like is the Sloaney black suede look as modelled here by Pippa Middleton.

I don't think knee highs or ankle boots will ever go out of fashion. It just depends on the boots and how you wear them. Tons of the 18-20 year olds where I work are wearing flat knee-high boots, the ones which go up higher at the front, mainly with skinnies. So if you're in the mood for knee highs, go for it, but tan ankle boots also sound v useful (and look great with everything IMO.)

Helpful...? No.

I think ankle boots can look as frumpy as knee length. Choose well made footwear and it won't look frumpy. I haven't seen any interesting boots in ages. Sad

What about mid-length - they look good with dresses and skirts.
Sadly I can't wear them (calf issue) but that would be my choice all other things being equal.

If you care about being on trend now, I don't see many knee length boots in the hip-ish part of London I work in these days but knee length is much more practical for winter.

Knee high. They are more practical, flattering and don't look dated unless you choose a very classic heeled style.

I don't think knee boots are passé at all. There are so many different styles, after all. Ankle boots give a totally different look and although nice, just don't cut it when it gets cold IMO.

I wear skirts with knee length boots. TBH the boots don't quite come up to the knee but are brown and fairly classic.

FFS squoosh, I have that handbag and am wearing v. similar boots. You'll give me a friggin' complex!

I have a few pairs of knee length boots and I don't think they're passe. In fact, the only place I've seen/heard people slating them is S&B. If you like them, get them.
