Tell me where you got your comfy, cosy black winter wool tights from?

Comfort is a must (wearing all day, so would like a nice comfy waist band that doesn't dig in). But must be plain - no patterns please!

Sadly, I can only point you towards this website.

I say sadly, because I only wear proper stockings (and suspender belts), and this is where I get mine. I got some gorgeous wool stockings that are so warm and I'm sure they must have a good tights equivalent.

(I've not worn tights since I was 18, and I'm now 45. Stockings only, not even hold ups.)

Marks and Spencer. No other tights will do.

I had some good ones from Boots last year

M&S Autograph are indeed very good and not too expensive.

They aren't wool but primarks super cosy tights are amazing. Fleece lined! It's like putting my legs in a cosy bed!

I wholeheartedly agree with 1gglePiggle, I bought them on a recommendation from here and wore them for the first time today and they are sooooo cosy (and it was -4 here this morning!)

Tesco had some impressive ones in last year.

Just to throw in my tuppence worth:
I hated those Primark fleece tights. Awful. Poor shape, not enough elastane, went baggy at the ankles, à la Nora Batty, slowly creeped down during the day so I was doing the secret/not so secret hoiking up of tights all flipping day.

Tesco did some nice ones last year, were they called Velvet or something, but they did go a bit ball-y.

So after extensive expensive buying of cheap mistakes searching, I am now the proud owner of Falke 100 denier matte tights. They are fab. Not the tiniest bit shiny (I don't like shiny), size down rather than up, they are generous. I also have a Wolford pair, and they are also v good. I reckon that will do, wash one, wear one.

I have seen M&S Autograph 100 ones with the sucky-in control top thing for not so confident days, or the days when there is no ignoring those buggeringly stubborn saddlebags. Or I should say SADDLEBAGS. They also do a merino one which I thought looked very promising indeed.

That ^^ was rather more than tuppence worth. Blush

Fryone, can I ask you about stockings and suspenders? I wear a lot of dresses and I would love to wear proper stockings. I just can't get on with them though. I find the suspender belt a bit uncomfortable and hold ups seem to roll down my leg (I have good calves but bad thighs, which might be the problem). Any tips?

Recommend M and S Autograph merino.

Thanks gals - a few options for me to try there. Interested to hear more about the stocking idea too. I bet they're nice in the milder months Wink

I get some John Lewis ones from Waitrose (I'm not as posh as this makes me sound!), they are fleece lined opaque, they are fab, very dark and very warm!

Does anyone seriously spend this much on a pair of tights?

don't bother with next ones. I had to give mine to dd. I have hooge fat arse she is a lovely size ten. They are shiny too. (shudder) I got the boot sock ones from primark. They were good. Going to get the velvet lined leggings.
I just mentioned stockings and dh had gone cross eyed remembering when I wore them all the time-even wool ones.

Biden are surprisingly ace. I've got all sorts but they are not great around my waist and I hate tights that dig in. The Boden ones are lovely, though they don't sell packs of black. I ordered a couple of packs burgundy/navy and grey/black.

What colours do the primark fleece lined ones come in?

Report
jennimoo · 06/11/2013 03:02

I think they only come in black but for warmth I'd recommend the heat holders ones. They're fleecey inside and the few times ive worn them they seemed to wash/ wear well.

Another vote for M&S Merino tights. I bought them last year and they have lasted extremely well (currently wearing them).

Tesco had some lovely thick ones last year, I'm hoping they have them again this year as I want to stock up.
