Hairy arms, are they acceptable?

Smile

I've always shaved, waxed or veered my legs, armpits and bikini line but it struck me the other day I have never touched my arms.

It came to my attention when I read the instructions on the very and it mentioned arms!

My arms are quite hairyShock but the hair is quite fine.

What does everyone else do?

I don't either and often wonder if other people think they're hairy! The hair is fine and blonde but I fear if I did it once it might look and feel coarser when it regrew. I think I'll leave it be.

I do. Because if they're left to their own devices they're very dark and hairy. I was always picked on at school in the 80's about it. I shave it down a bit and bleach the hair, there's still hair there but it's more subtle.

I've heard of people waxing their arms but I really don't want ingrowing hairs on my arms.

I've been wondering this lately, would be interesting to hear what other women are doing

I am not removing hair from my arms. And I am Shock at people who are.
WHY?
Armpits, yes - makes it less stinky.
Pubes, yes - it's a sex/hygiene thing for some.
Legs, ok - straggly hairs look shit through tights
Eyebrows - maybe it makes eyeshadow easier to apply?

But WHY arms? I see no benefit. Unless you are a monkey trying to masquerade as a human........ The hair on my head is very dark and hairy. It suits me. Grin

I am very hairy and have hairy arms. I'm olive skinned with dark hair and so the hairs show.

I have never removed them because of the regrowth but do bleach the hairs. it makes a difference.

My friend has had full body laser treatment. it is amazing. its like stroking a baby (disclaimer I have only stroked her arms not her whole body Grin)

My natural arms are werewolf arms, no skin colour just dark hair. Which is why I reduce it a bit.

littlered full body laser treatment Envy. Can you imagine the time that must save! My entire life revolves around what hair needs to be tackled next.

I bleach mine. I'm quite pale but dark haired and my arms have quite long hairs on them too.

I was always very self concious of the dark hairs, tried waxing them a few times but it just felt weird. Bleaching them actually makes me look a bit more tanned too which is a bonus.

Never do, because fine downy arm hair is better than arm stubble! My sister does and the regrowth is a huge pain.

trixymalixy · 02/11/2013 09:57

No, I don't do anything. My sister's friend shaves her arms and always feels quite stubbly when you brush past her.

I have really, really hairy arms, the hair is blondish, but there is so much of it and it is long (4-5cm) that it looks darker iyswim.

Not in a million year would I remove it, I love it, I also have a slighty hairy back and I love that too.

All the women on my mums side of the family are very hairy, but it has always been something we are proud of, that binds us together, couldn't care less what other people think of them.

sorry that made me laugh Grin

I have dark hair and first I bleached, then went onto waxing which, over time, significantly reduced the density of the hair. I have now completed a course of laser removal and I love my smooth arms.
Makes a huge difference to me.

I wax in the summer, but not the winter. But then I am from a hot country and over there we all have smooth hariless arms, yet hairy legs, because our legs are never actually on display.
In the winter in the uk I get goosebumps without my hair.

I shaved my arms when I was about 14 and I've been doing it every bloody day since because the stubble just feels horrible. But I can't imagine not doing it now. I cant remember what having hairy arms felt like, but I remember that I decided to shave them when I looked down and thought I looked like a blonde monkey, and for that reason I really dont want to grow it back in ever.

I used hair removing cream on my arms when I was a teenager. Don't do anything now - they're probably about 3-5cm I guess. Not too dark. Am just used to them I suppose.

Relatively hairy arms- wouldn't dream of doing anything other than loving, the teeny tiny extra bit of warmth it brings me!! I am always freezing cold... So any extra hair helps!! Grin

I am a beauty therapist. You can bleach it to make it less noticeable. Some people wax it if hairs are very dark but most people leave it.

I have dark hair on my arms. The hair is soft.and downy. Its a mousy brown colour, rather than black, and I dont feel.it is massively noticeable.

I couldnt face shaving them every day,.dont ofren have my whole arms uncovered,.and bleaching would.make the hair gleam against my skin.

The hair on my arms is the only body hair I like - its very soft and blonde. Also my arms are very freckly and moley so removing hair would be problematic.

Agree with AwesomeWellies though I recognise if you have dark hairy arm hair, you would feel differently.

Gobbers, your arm hair is 4-5 cm long?? Really? 2 inches? Ku-DOS And Miranda, you too? Centimeters? I never knew....

I don't and I wouldn't remove arm hair - and I think it looks a bit strange when I notice adult women's arms being totally smooth.

I told my aunt I was thinking of epilating my arms, and she put me right off. About 30 years ago she decided to wax her arms. She did one arm, and it was so painful she didn't wax the other. Even now, the arm that got waxed has darker thicker hair ShockShock imagine what it would have looked like after 30 years of waxing Confused

Glad it is not just me that has this dilemma! I always thought hairy arms were normal and acceptable and at the age of 33 have never tried to remove them. I'm really dark but my arm hairs are fair-ish. My arms are tanned so it looks fine to me.

I did read somewhere that hairy armed people are if superior IntelligenceGrin

Obviously not intelligent enough to make my mind up about what to do with my hairy arms.

The hair on my arms is soft, smooth and blonde to whereas my shaved legs have thick , black hair, would hate my arms to turn out like my legs!
