I think they stretch/get holes really quickly. Especially the kids clothes.

I've not bought clothes for myself from there, but do have a few things for my DD which seem ok, but they've only been fairly lightly worn.

Yes,the womans tops are very flimsy.

They go out of shape after one wash.

The women's seasonal stuff is terrible and the sizing insane, but the basics tops are completely indestructible. I bought a whole bunch in several colours for layering under stuff, long and short sleeved, several years ago and some of them are now starting to fade a bit but they're years old, have been washed a gazillion times, and have kept their shape and not shrunk at all.

I agree. I think the quality used to be much better.

I love the kids stuff. It lasts really well keeps shape etc. I don't tumble dry it though.

I bought an organic cotton long sleeve scoop neck T-shirt last week and found it to be much better quality than the thin tops most shops have.

I find the kids tops and leggings get holes in them really easily. Every time I spot a hole I say "I bet that is from H&M"...and it is!

The baby and children's clothing collections are really great for quality but I find some of the girls stuff way too grown up looking for my taste.

Their basics in men's, women's and children's are also great IME.

As soon as you venture outside of these areas its downhill.

The women's tos I've bought have all stretched and twisted terribly. They're only good as rags after a couple of washes.
I do have a couple of skirts from there though which have been fab - one is emerald green satin, and the other a woollen tweed. Both an age old, but have lasted really well.

The quality did used to much better in the women's stuff. I stopped shopping there for myself about 3 or 4 years ago. I went into a H&M on Friday, took a quick look around and walked back out. I ended up buying something from River Island for the first time instead. I always used to find things to fit me and that looked quite decent in H&M and never shop in River Island so I was quite surprised.

No, I find the opposite, the kids stuff in particular is pretty much indestructable, washes and wears brilliantly. Haven't really had any problems with the womens wear either, and I have loads, I did have one top shrink in the wash, but I took that back. I am a very careful washer though.

Utter bobbins. Wafer thin women's clothing and each and every single item I've bought for the children has been destroyed at the mere nod in the direction of the tumble dryer.

Got sucked in by price but will return to Boden for quality.

Buy cheap buy twice is ever so apt wrt H&M.

My DD lives in the H&m leggings, long sleeved tops etc and they've been washed and tumble dried over and over. I'd agree the stuff outside those basics can be a bit thin and flimsy though.

I find the kids and adult basics are great and last well.

I always find the kids clothes fairly good and they wash well.

Womens clothes, some is fine.I have a maxi dress I've worn to death over three summer's and it's still perfect. It lasted through my weight gain and shrinkage too.Not bad considering it only cost me £15 in the sale

I think the key issue with H&M is inconsistency wrt quality. I have some items from there which have been brilliant - slub cotton loose fit tees & straight leg trousers in particular. On the flip side, I can quite easily ignore at least half the stock in store because the naff fabric & finish sticks out like a sore thumb. However I think this applies to many high street stores irrespective of price point.

Just realised I have a £2.99 'one per customer' special offer skirt that's lasted at least two years aswell,it's still perfect! Now that IS a bargain!!!!

I find Zara worse tbh, love H&M jeans and denim shirts. I buy most of my DS stuff there as it-'s cheap cheerful.

I buy loads of kids clothes from there - looks good, wears well, cheap and lots of non-pink options for girls. (I don't have an issue with pink as such but we like other colours too & H&M have lots of them). Their £6 fleeces have to be one of the best buys in town.

The organic baby stuff is brilliant and my 2 lived in them. I love that they use lots of organic cotton.

I don't notice any more holes in the leggings than those brought elsewhere.

Customer service isn't great, ordering and delivery horrendous. Takes weeks, stuff ends up out of stock so you've paid full price for delivery to get half what you wanted...

The last couple of tops I got from there twisted in the wash - they had been cut wonky. I no longer buy for me from there. They do the best baby vests though - shaped properly around the legs to hold a nappy in place even when it's heavy, and a very good range of bright colours.

No idea about their adult stuff their 16's are about a 14 or a M&S 12, nothing is cut with hips so I have never found anything that fits and even size 12 DD2 has trouble.

DD2 has some children's stuff. It's OK not as good as M&S, but better than Primark

Report
NoComet · 21/10/2013 10:29

DD1 not 2, DD2 is a hipless sporty rake who has no trouble with H&M's crazy sizing.
