Tops that don't make busty women look frumpy!

Everything seems to look frumpy on my large boobs,unless it's tight and then I just look tarty!

Need some day tops for wearing under cardies and now terrified jumpers are going to look dreadful too.

I'm an H cup (although about to expand as am pregnant) so I know where you're coming from!

V necks or scoop necks are your friend. Some cowl necks work but some look frumpy.

Not too much fabric around the boob area though and nothing loose below or you look frumpy or pregnant or both. You want it streamlined.

I recently tried various tops on in Phase Eight. This looked fantastic on my boobs but this which you would think is similar looked hugely frumpy because it had so much more fabric around the boobs.

Cotton lycra is the way forward. It doesn't have to look tarty, really truly!

Also I really wouldn't worry about showing off your cleavage. It isn't tarty provided everywhere else is covered and your make up isn't too nightclubby. Instead you will just have people envying your beautiful boobs :) I never worry about showing a little bit of cleavage, ever.

I think it's the difference between bust and waist size that makes things look tarty :(

Agree that phase eight cut well for boobs. But some of their stuff is very frumpy.

I have the same - small waist, big boobs.

This is going to sound a bit 'deep' and psychological for the S&B thread but it sounds a bit like you aren't quite comfortable with your boobs. Can you try and see them as an asset? And then dress them accordingly.

For reference, this is tarty. I very much doubt you look like this :)

I can pretty much guarantee that you wearing a lycra v neck top isn't going to be tarty. It is going to be you making the most of your figure and looking lovely.

Perhaps try plain v neck tops, darker colours if you are feeling a bit concerned. Or wear a loose long scarf or big necklace to cover up a bit of the skin that a v neck top exposes so you get the benefits of the top showing off your figure to best effect but with a bit more coverage.

Pepper Berry specialises in clothes for bigger busts. Some stuff is frumpy but some is lovely.

I wear this with skinny jeans and heels and feel like it is really flattering.

I don't think big boobs ever look tarty unless you're going out in nipple tassels and swinging them around in sainsburys!
How about a blouse with a pretty camisole underneath?
I don't think high neck tops are very flattering, they just give a uni boob effect that makes you look bigger than you actually are.

I probably am a bit uncomfortable with them at the mo,they've always been giant but since I put on weight and then lost weight they haven't actually shrunk much at all so I do feel a bit weird about them.


I've used pepperberry before but being 31 I often find their stuff a little 'old' for me.

Obviously a good fitting bra will make a difference.

But I find that V necks are good and I always wear a scarf. I avoid patterns which means all the current Scandinavian style jumpers are out . But generally I live in vest tops from M&S, with a cardigan buttoned up with the top button and a scarf. I find if I don't button it up I'm always hoiking it over my boobs in the style of Pauline Fowler.

But scarves is the way to go. It makes any top look less frumpy IMO.

Do you have a good bra? A bra that turns them into a mono-boob will make any top look frumpy.

I have a friend a similar size to you, with a tiny waist, and she never looks tarty. She mainly wears dresses (Kemmos Joy dress is what made me think of her, that's exactly the kind of thing she wears). She often wears a belt with them which emphasises her lovely shape but also distracts from the boobs. Not sure how you feel about skater dresses, but she was wearing this one in purple when she visited the other day and it looked amazing - it's very full in the skirt so balanced her figure perfectly.

The only time I see her in jeans she's wearing a big slouchy cardi or long slouchy top with them.

I agree that big boobs can age you and clothes often don't hang/sit right. Polo necks look obscene on me and even scoop necks looks awful. I look overweight in a loose top even though I am skinny, just big boobs. i can only wear v-necks and then I have to be careful about the length of the top. I find dresses easier to wear actually.

Scarf or a draped shawl works well. Check buttons on blouses don't gap

Dresses definitely a good option. Many are cut well for boobs and look more elegant/glam, even if just a day dress and hence less frumpy. Also the skirts can help balance the noobs if you got something A line or full skirted.

I like tea dresses for daytime - v neck, flippy skirt.
