Can these boots be worn with a dress and look good? I am 36 5'9" tall and a size 12 if it helps!

I apologise if my links don't work. I am hopeless on this iPad. I'm looking for boots to go with dresses and thick black tights for a night out. I'm thinking of this dress with them..

Hideous or nice?

Ok thank you for your honest opinion. Would those boots go with other dresses of a similar style do you think? With tights?

Personally, I really like the dress. I've an unreasonable bias against ankle-boots, think is an '80's childhood-related issue.

I just thought the dress was bright and so bit of a change for me. I always wear black on a night out. Which is rare! No idea how to wear it tho. I love the boots but they could be a very expensive mistake.

Like them both and think they go well but there are lots of ( cheaper) other black ankle boots out there if you're not sure.

Ok thanks beepoff. I might try the dress on tomorrow before worrying about the shoes. I have 3 weeks to put myself together.

i like the dress,
the boots are fugly and expensive. i like ankle boots but those have an orthopaedic air - they will look too try-hard trendy or frumpy
there isn't any black in the dress, so another colour would be better, a deep burgundy red or dark blue (lots of good blue boots about, try kurt geiger or dune black). tights to go with. or bare legs.
heels would also work
love those ash silver boots, but not with the dress

I'm another one who likes the dress but not the boots. If you want ankle boots to go with that dress, I'd suggest something less clumpy, something along these lines:

Hobbs ones are dull. Old fashioned. Stick to yours

If you're buying these items specifically to wear together, I agree that blue boots will work better. Stick with your slightly clumpy style preference for the boots. It's more contemporary and will give an edge to the prettiness of your dress. I've seen some gorgeous teal boots & shoe-boots about this year.

At 5'9" and size 12, the world's your oyster fashion-wise! Because you could look good in anything, I think you're right to make a bit of a statement with your outfit :)

Really, you hate them? I talk myself out of buying them every other day Grin

... but thinking about it, they would look stupid with a mini dress. I bow to Betsy.

I like the Hush Puppy boots. But I really hate ankle boots with dresses, to me it just looks wrong, wrong, wrong. No idea why though.
