Smart ankle boots, to wear with skirts

OK, OK, so I know it's a divisive issue, but I quite like the look, and am after some smart black ankle boots to wear for work with skirts (knee-length or above).

My knee-length ones from last year just feel frumpy now.

My trusty Top Shop Mighty ankle boots are lovely but just aren't smart enough.

I bought these (OK, they are K; don't judge me for my bunions), but they are a bit wide around the top (someone used the phrase "twig in a plant pot" which sums up the look nicely) so may be going back.

I'm after something black leather, not too high, ideally less than £80, and (I guess) reasonably close-fitting around the ankle.

I'm aware I am straying dangerously close to mum-boot territory, so please help me out!

Watching with interest as I'd like to get some boots/shoe boots to wear with skirts, but my DD (25) is of the opinion that it's not a good look 'for older women' (i.e. me!).

I could just get some and not wear them when I see her I suppose ... what does anyone reckon.

(sorry to hijack the thread OP) .

Hmm.....well, I guess I probably qualify as "older woman" at 46, so I defy your DD!

I was flitting through M&S today and grabbed these - opinions? They look really cool side-on, nice heel, not toooooo mum-boot, I hope. I will try them on with a skirt at the weekend and report back.
