Do you have a 'uniform'?

The garments you wear most days, that you love, and you always feel good in? My uniform would probably be: daytime - skinny jeans, shirt with a collar, buttoned up, jumper, converse or brogues. Evening/smart daytime - vintage dress (60s, straight or A-line, sleeveless or long sleeved, not low-cut), opaque tights, boots or flats.

I want to streamline my wardrobe and have a 'uniform'. I'm so sick of 90% of my clothing. Hate all the silly blouses and going-out tops, still have work clothing from 6-7 years ago (I haven't worked in an office since 2006).

Women like Patti Smith and Joan Didion are inspiring in that they seem to wear the same thing all the time and look amazing - it's like a uniform.

Do you have a 'uniform' and does it make getting dressed in the morning hassle-free?

I guess I do.
I like mini dresses with tights and boots, or skinny jeans with a voluminous top/jumper and wedge heels or converse. I'm lucky in that I can wear almost anything to work, so don't have to wear formal work clothes. So I wear one of the above to work.
At the weekend I also like wearing short stretchy skirts with tights and wedge trainers and a hoodie.
On the rare occassion I go out in the evening, it'll be a smarter version of my weekday attire with heels.

I do. But it hasn't been based on a conscious decision to make life easier. My style has taken a very definitive turn in the last 5 years.

I never wear jeans or trousers of any kind (pyjamas excepted).

Retro dresses, a mixture of vintage and new (40's tea dresses-50's circle dresses-short 60's peter pan collar shifts). 99% of the time in a pattern (polka dots, cherries, floral, gingham, tiny russian dolls) the quirkier the better. Never black.

Worn with little cardigans, tights and t-bar or mary-jane heels.

For nighttime it's the same style but more exaggerated. Lots of lace and leopard print Grin.

Thanks choc and Bunny - Bunny you sound a lot like a good friend of mine! Similar style. I've always loved peter pan collars, and worn them for years, but I think I'm too old for them now! :(

I've lost sight of what 'my' style is I think. My mum buys me clothing sometimes and I feel obliged to wear it, but wonder if I actually like it...

Mainly tea dresses, cardigan, tights and boots/brogues/t bar shoes. Much prefer a/w clothes to s/s.

On 'can't be arsed' days usually a breton top, jeans and converse/keds.

Bunny your style sounds fab Smile

Not sure I have a uniform so much as a long list of things I don't like wearing! So, no skirts, no shirts or blouses, no trousers (except skinny black cropped ones in summer), no shoes except ballet flats or flat/low-heeled boots. I only like above the knee dresses with black opaque tights, or skinny jeans with nice slouchy tshirt or jumper, basically. That sounds really boring and limited doesn't it, not sure how I have so many clothes tbh! Don't need to be smart for work, luckily.

Dresses and boots for me, usually with a cardi layered over it.

Skinny or straight jeans and a blouse or jumper with converse knock-offs.

Small but unusual jewellery.

I try to keep it all within a pallet of complementary colours, after a huge clearout this summer!

I prefer a/w to s/s too - hate being sweaty and feeling exposed in a sleeveless dress and bare legs. a/w I can throw on a pea coat or parka, skinny jeans, random top underneath, and feel dressed...

Elizabeth am with you on the trouser-hatred. Just can't find ones that fit and are flattering. I had one black, tapered pair with an elasticated waist (!!!) that I wore for working at home - put them on the other day and burst into tears. :) Into the charity-bag they went.

Big yes to small, unusual jewellery!

I also have a love of footless tights. Not leggings. Not sure why, just do.

oh I forgot, no jewellery except watch and wedding rings, and no cardis.

DancingLady exactly, it took me forever to find the one pair of black cropped trousers that fit me. They are a minefield.

Kind of. Mainly dresses - saves having to match tops and bottoms and always more comfortable to sit in (driving, working, eating...)

Generally sundresses in summer, with flat sandals/convers in day, heels at night. Use collarless denim jacket or various cardigans for cover up.

In winter, wear over leggings, jeans or thick tights depending on the dress. Heels at night, wedge boots in day

I do wear other stuff, but my dresses are my 'go to' wardrobe.
Tested myself last time I went away and too no short/jeans/skirts at all.
Packing was so much easier!

Daytime
Slim jeans/chinos/cigarette trousers with either floaty ish top,or tee and jersey blazer or cardigan.
Statement necklace or scarf
silver bracelets
This is my current uniform,a few weeks ago it was more likely to be jersey dress or rolled up chinos plus tee.
In a few weeks Ill wear more dresses, with opaques and boots, jacket and scarf.

I pretty much wear jeans, blouse/tee and cardigan. Tops tend to be neutral (black/grey/navy/white) with cardigan in a winter colour. It does make dressing relatively easy as most tops and cardigans go together so I can mix and match.

I have a few uniforms:
Work: Pencil skirt, Skinny fit shirt or skinny fit cashmere jumper, tweed blazer or trench, opaques, pointy heels or brogues.
Casual day: skinnys, Striped top, animal print scarf, parka or leather biker, converse or ash jalouse
Evening out: Above the knee lace dress or vintage style tea dress, opaques, heels OR pleather leggings, floaty pussy bow blouse, leopard print heels

Yep - skinnies, ballets (or ankle boots) plain navy, grey or black top, scarf, cross body bag. Same few simple jewellery pieces.

I just feel fussy in prints or cardigans or layers. And anything like a blouse or with detailing like ruffles. I can just about bring myself to wear stripes, or very plain navy dress with opaques and boots, but I endlessly buy clothes that are lovely and I just don't want to wear them! Every day I want to wear the same thing, I think I just need to embrace it.
