What is your DD wearing if she doesn't wear Converse?

DD(11) is very uncooperative with shoes. She refuses to wear Converse because she doesn't like the style, which is a shame as she's a real slouchy, hoody kind of girl and they'd really suit her. It's the white across the toe apparently. Hmm

All summer she's been wearing some canvas shoes from Fat Face (ladies range) but now needs something more robust going into winter.

Any ideas? She won't wear boots either!

Dr Martens? Mine wears the ones with heels.

FreshLeticia · 19/09/2013 20:55

Sorry that was really useless as she is only 11. Dr Martens do cool shoes as well. Rocket dog crepe soled pumps?

dexter73 · 19/09/2013 20:56

My dd wears Vans, Nike Blazers and Adidas Gazelles.

racmun · 19/09/2013 20:57

Converse do some styles without white across the front- I've got some! Try office as they have loads of choice

Bonsoir · 19/09/2013 20:57

DD (8) bought some black fringed ankle boots with a tiny hidden heel ( weekend wear only) and otherwise wears trainers or a pair of black suede studded slippers.

HometownUnicorn · 19/09/2013 21:00

some fabulous grey suede adidas gazelles, with the stripe in neon pink
I'd wear them like a shot if they went up to an 8

chicaguapa · 19/09/2013 21:03

Crikey! I used to wear Gazelles, back in the day. Mind you I wore Converse too so not sure why it's so surprising.

Not sure I'd let her near DMs, she might kick DS with them on. Wink

Vans look like something she'd go for. Their website doesn't seem to have size 5 in the kids range, but John Lewis does. Will do some investigating.

my dd is a horror to buy shoes for.
she is14.
occaisionally she finds something from next mail order and often from primark too.
shes not into branding happily for me Smile

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 20/09/2013 09:45

converse, vans, nike blazers (both hi and lo), uggs. ds1 has some black converse that are black all over including the rubber toe.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 20/09/2013 09:46

lots of friends girls seem to wear nike air max or nike free funs as well.

Fairylea · 20/09/2013 09:49

Biker boots! Well that's what dd aged 10 likes.

Brantano has a code to get 40% discount (EVERYTHING40). If she is an adult size they have some lovely boots.

Ihatemytoes · 20/09/2013 10:18

Nike air max, and blazers.

clb · 20/09/2013 11:10

Campers, desert boots with lambswool lining from Clarks, leather biker boots from Johnnie B - NB neither the desert boots nor the Campers were nearly this expensive when we bought them in the sales last year!

My dd loves her toms, converse, and dms

bigTillyMint · 20/09/2013 11:18

DD(14) wears
Hi-top Nike Blazers
Vans (her brothers old ones!)
Fake Uggs
Nike AirMax trainers
Black Kickers for school
Ballet pumps

Was flip-flops/sandals in the summer

3nationsfamily · 20/09/2013 11:18

My DD school is very strict on black shoes with no other colours so everyone is wearing these Vans

bigTillyMint · 20/09/2013 11:27

Vans are banned at some local schools! I can't see a problem myself - they are black and sensibleConfused

BeattieBow · 20/09/2013 11:52

my dd is also a nightmare with shoes (and coats too come to that!). - she mostly fannies around in topshop ballet pumps (she has floral converse too). I am trying to persuade her to have dms for the winter but she thinks they're too big/chunky.

last winter she didn't get any waterproof shoes until around Feb and then she had brown lace up ankle boot type things from Office.

BeattieBow · 20/09/2013 11:54

i went to an open day at my dd1s school this week (for dd2) most of the girls seem to wear trainers - either nike (the blazers generally) or new balance or something similar. There were quite a few doc martins and lots of converse.

VivaLeThrustBadger · 20/09/2013 11:56

Trainers, high top types. Hers are just cheap ones from sports direct.

Uggs.

wordfactory · 20/09/2013 11:58

DD (14) has brown brogues, navy Toms, red Vans-a-like from New Look, silver Nike hightops and a pair of flowered suede desert boots.

11 y/o dd wears black dunlop trainers or hiking boots depending on the weather. She'd like a pair of DMs & I've said she can have some when her feet slow down growing a bit (also once she goes up one size she'll be the same as me so I can wear them out if she grows again!).

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/09/2013 12:17

My 11yo DD wears Vans.
The black canvas ones for school
Navy for home.

(I wear Converse high-tops because I have freakily narrow feet)

She had Kickers last year, hopefully they'll still fit her but knowing my DD she'll have grown.

CointreauVersial · 20/09/2013 13:24

DD1 (12) wears hi-top trainers, or cheapo canvas pumps from Primark.
DD2 (10) lives in her taupe suede cowboy boots!

Neither gives a toss about branding.
