A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

Is anyone a us9 in Sam Edelman?

soz Shop

MrsRadicchio · 11/09/2013 17:57

what size did we try the adenas in anni? They were too big for me but the aster were too small at 8.5

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 11/09/2013 18:05

Oh I do like a nice, clean new thread.

Isn't it spacious?

Stuff which arrived today - Wrap sweater and scarf, also Mint Velvet snuggly angora mix sweater. All beautiful and definite keepers. Unfortunately DH signed for both parcels - so much for sneaking them past him! I am, however, unrepentant. Grin

shopafrolic · 11/09/2013 18:10

Nice one Grumpy :)

Gah I missed it....like to get in early! Just hem to do and I have a new skirt'! children have passed put with starvation but hey ho Grin
Shop I love rhubarb, doesn't it grow like a weed though? When ever I over cook,it it reduces to about a tbsp !!! Now I'm feeling like rhubarb crumble....maybe Sunday . Apparently I live in the golden rhubarb growing triangle .
Off to hem.

Grumpy great that you love your purchases.

MarshaBrady · 11/09/2013 19:26

Lovely stuff Grumpy.

Linus I loved that Stella coat on vol. 19. The one I've got is really light but warm too and a great colour. I'm going to check it out.

Anni hope someone size 9 got them, thanks for the pm!

Doing work at home was fabulous and quiet. Then they all got back from clubs etc and it was mayhem. God knows how I ever worked with out decent childcare.

MarshaBrady · 11/09/2013 19:31

Thanks for new thread Shop.

mignonette · 11/09/2013 19:44

Here you are! Thanks for setting up No#21 Shop with a great introduction. Hopefully we'll prod some more lurkers into making themselves known to us.

Queen I sent you some pins of my outfit today because Pinterest won't let me pin them onto MNV board. Hope you feel better soon.

Grumpy That's a nice haul. I read your post out to my DH and it made him chuckle. He says you are wonderfully brazen in your lack of remorse Grin...

Love the glimmery sweater from Wrap- it reminds me of the 'Headmistress' sweaters and cardigans by L'Wren Scott except she charges over a thou for hers. http://pinterest.com/pin/457326537131737690/ Here is one and another.

I wore this today and for the first time wasn't too hot wearing the new season layers. Had a lovely lunch w/ my DD, shopped for cookware in various places and drooled over this Westco Big Boy bin and this= Kitchen Aid. Not clothes I know but still desirable!

Annianni · 11/09/2013 19:50

We tried a us9 MrsR.
The Adena's seemed big, compared to my other SE's.

carrie74 · 11/09/2013 20:20

Hello All

Thanks for the new thread, Shop, been trying to keep up....

Mig your pins have made me want to dig out my old Roxanne. I put it into retirement because it's so heavy, but now that I'm doing personal training, maybe I'll have the arm strength to carry it again Grin.

I started thinking about investing in some Hudson boots, either Horrigan or Encke, but then tonight I pulled on last years's grey Clarks specials, and actually, they've got another year's wear in them [polishes halo].

Still holding out for the Aigle Cuckmere...you can all thank me for the mildest winter on record once I've bought it #sod's law

QueenCadbury · 11/09/2013 20:27

I love a new thread!

grumpy nice shopping. How will you wear the glittery/sequin jumper? I've got last years mango one and am never quite sure how to style it?

foxysocks · 11/09/2013 20:31

Thank for new thread shop. Not sure i can bring positive attitude, DH just taken DS to A&E as he fell over about an hour ago - just before bed- and started screaming that his arm hurt, was holding it very gingerly and wouldn't let me touch it at all. Hoping against hope its not broken but signs not good. Oh shit, am crying now.

shopafrolic · 11/09/2013 20:32

Waves to carrie

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 11/09/2013 20:34

Oh!!!!! Foxy sending huge hugs. How scary! Do you have anyone with you, or someone you can call while you wait for news?

OP posts:
carrie74 · 11/09/2013 20:34

Oh no foxy, hope he's ok [hugs]. Let us know.

QueenCadbury · 11/09/2013 20:35

Oh foxy don't cry. If he has broken it it'll heal very quickly. Dd damaged her leg a few months ago and they thought it may be broken and she had a plaster for 2 weeks. It didn't stop her doing anything! Flowersto you

Mominatrix · 11/09/2013 20:39

Found you all.

Grumpy - love your haul - particularly the sparkly jumper - might have to get one myself. queen - I'd wear it on top of jeans with a blazer on top with the sleeves rolled up. Maybe my new boyfriends, with heels., or with skinnies and converse.

mig - I have one of those Kitchenaids, but in shiny candy apple red. Love it, and use it almost every day. I have stainless steel appliances, but my shiny red Kitchenaid is the accent piece (and the queen of the kitchen). DH wants one of those Heston Blumenthal Tea makers - I think it is ridiculous. What is wrong with a kettle?!?

carrie love the first Hudsons. Not helping as you are being very good.

I'm starting to look for dresses for Christmas party season - I know it is far away, but the first invites/save-the-dates have started to come. Nothing serious in terms of "I am going to buy right now", but I can't even decide what style I want to buy. Something different. Would love a Mary Kantranzou-ish dress, but I just can't purchase one of them as I am not convinced they would be wearable in a year or two. Does anyone have any idea of what they will be wearing?

Mominatrix · 11/09/2013 20:44

just read about your son, foxy. I hope that he is OK. Even if it is broken, it will heal quickly. A friend's daughter fell and broke her arm in 2 places, and it was in a cast for 4 weeks, and healed well. The worst bit is the shock in the beginning. More hugs to you.

shopafrolic · 11/09/2013 20:45

My days of Christmas parties disappeared when I stopped my job Mom unfortunately. DH says there may be something this year in his new job but no idea where as yet. More exciting will be the club trip in the Spring if he hits target. Do you go to a lot of events.

OP posts:
Mominatrix · 11/09/2013 20:47

Not alot of events, shop, school stuff, friend stuff, and some things for DH work. Problem is that some groups overlap!

MarshaBrady · 11/09/2013 20:50

Oh no Foxy you poor things! I hope all is as ok as it can be. Hugs.

Momin, this is really stretching my memory, but did you go for the Peter Pilotto dress in the end?

QueenCadbury · 11/09/2013 20:51

Thanks for the pins mig. I've only just realised that you can send pins to people so expect lots of checks from me for your board!

I'm fining it most bizarre seeing all these pins of ss14 when I'm just about to put all my summer stuff away.

mig get the pin boards set up for your quiz as I'd love to pin!

Sounds fun. School stuff for us is yet to come, friends stuff yes but not too glam unfortunately, I'm really hoping DH's new company come up trumps. It's been 5 years since my last black tie event - I miss them.....

OP posts:
mignonette · 11/09/2013 20:55

Oh Foxy, Hopefully it won't be broken but if it is, he'll be very proud of his cast once the shock is over. I know how worrying it is for you and of course it brings on the tears Flowers to you and Cake.

Carrie Those Hudsons are very similar to the GAP buckle boots in black I am wearing today (and keep glancing at in admiration and adoration). It is refreshing to stomp about in sturdy Tough girl boots for a change.

Mom I love the Candy Apple Red and the Cider Apple colour ways the most. They had the Candy red but it was on too high a shelf for me to photograph. My Mother has the Cider Apple but says it is too heavy for her to use comfortably so I live in hope Smile of it being gifted to me or DD one day. Those Heston appliances are very carefully designed to appeal to men I think. Anything that takes ten steps to do something that usually takes only one is appealing to DH.

As far as Christmas dressing goes I think that some of the prints might date after the A/W season but thing is, if you love it then it doesn't matter. And accessories can bring something right up to date again. I do think some of the tartan/plaid prints would not date as after all McQueen has been doing this look for years. Any of the new geometric florals or the deconstructed ones that take a floral motif and exaggerate it or deconstruct it would work too. I often wear pants in a more luxurious fabric out at night-brocade, metallised fabrics, cire, silk satin, embossed....Dampen down any bling w/ a plain top and blazer whether that be a T, strappy top, shirt, blouson....

shopafrolic · 11/09/2013 20:55

Just went to look at Mary Katrantzou dresses and fell in love
