Has Anyone Had Fillers?

I thought I was growing old(er) reasonably well (I'm 42) and never thought about any "enhancements". Just had my passport photo taken and the Nasolabial folds are really bad, of course I could try to convnce myself that is just bad lighting but my mirror doesn't lie ;). I am now v. distracted about them so has anyone had any fillers and do you recommend them and how long do they last? Is there any other alternatives? Thanks!

Hi, yes I had some about 4 years ago when I was about your age. I'd lost weight and face looked a bit sunken! My filler was done by cosmetic surgeon at what is now a SK1N clinic. It cost about £400 but really improved nasal labio lines and I had some at corners of mouth to lift it a bit.

To follow on, yes I recommend it and it lasts about ten months but depend on individual. You might do d you need top up after ten months but they only need to use one vial of filler instead of two and so it's cheaper. I injection anaesthetic rather than topical one. I did get some swelling around mouth bit like after dental treatment and you can get slight bruising from injections.

Yes I had a course of dermaroller treatments and some fillers before my wedding a few weeks ago.

The filler is absolutely AMAZING! I was firm that I did not want too much in,or to end up looking like a pillow face/hamster and I can honestly say it's changed my life, am so much happier. Prior to that I'd felt like my face was starting to collapse! I'm 40.

I had some filler in my cheekbones which lifted my entire face (and will help with the lines you talk about) and a tiny bit a the sides of my mouth to lift. I had some in my chin because a I have a deep fold in it.

Honestly it's like scaffolding for your face - amazing - go for it! I will always get it done now.

HappyGirl brilliant sounds it really worked for you as well. I have a friend who goes to someone who has turned her gargage into a botox clinic (seriously)............

Have it put deep along the cheekbone to lift everything, not in the actual fold itself - looks more natural and not as monkeyish.

Yes sofa that's what I got, lifted my whole face. Now I don't recoil when I catch sight of myself in mirrors/windows, I'm so so happy with it.

I must admit, if I ever manage to lose a few stones, I'll be tempted to have my face re-upholstered with filler again. Would deffo try cheekbone padding recommended by HappyG.

I have noticed those lines on me recently I am 48 and tbh I wouldn't contemplate fillers.My friend has had them and it looks terrible

noddyholder - in what way does it look obvious, that she's had work done? I've looked at the before and after shots online and the majority have really good natural looking results.

The lower half of her face just looks odd and she went to someone really good. He dh hates it too and tbh she was gorgeous before even with her lines stand out in the street gorgeous and now she looks strange. I know several people who have had it with mixed results.

You need to get someone very good.
Dr Tracy Mountford at the Cosmetic Skin Clinic has been the Tatler 'Queen of Fillers' for several years. She under-does rather than over does, evidently.

If people look obviously 'done' then they have been to a duff practitioner.

The fillers used nowadays are temporary- if you hate it you can have it dissolved.

Noddy I also know people who've had it done and look awful. It was the doctor who suggested it and I was very wary and I made her promise to use the absolute minimum required. I had very little put in..

I really want to get the face lift effect but i have such chubby cheeks i don't need any more volume. Does anyone know if this is do-able. I'm no stranger to botox, whats the discomfort level like for fillers?

I have fillers on the nose-to-mouth fold about every 18 months - absolutely love it - it looks completely natural - no hamster cheeks or pillow face. Make sure you use an experienced and well qualified practitioner. Maybe try searching the BCAM website:

In terms of discomfort - it's marginally more uncomfrtable than botox but really I wouldn't class it as 'pain' as such.

Yep, had smokers lines zapped when I stopped smoking two years ago. Have had it done twice, 12 months aoart. Think its cakled juvaderm or summat? Very subtle, no trout pout. It was a bit swollen for 24 hours then fine. Didnt hurt much. Botox hurts me more. Cost £300.
