Hush - omg could spend a fortune!

Today i discovered the Hush website and fell in love with loads of the autumn collection. I could easily buy loads but I really dont need anything!

Any advice from experienced Hush shoppers about best buys, sizing, discount codes, sales etc?
Is there a Hush shop anywhere?

Also i am in my mid forties and dont want to wear something too young iyswim.

Hush do wonderful photo shoots, they really style their items well. However, in reality I've been disappointed with the clothes.

I've only got one Hush item, a brushed cotton nightie and I love it. The s/m I got is massive though...don't know if it's just that item or all their items are on the large side.

This is soo annoying! I love looking at the website but haven't been able to get on since the new collection launched. Tried using my iPhone & laptop and nothing is working! Putting DH on the case to figure out what's happening.

I like their stuff. I have quite a few pairs of harem pants (inlcuding winter merino ones) which i wear a lot, a lovely wool cable jumper from last year which always gets compliments, a jersey blazer, some T shirts. I haven't had a problem with quality, although agree that the sizing is odd (generally huge, size down).

Hush clothes look amazing in the catalogue, and I was seduced into buying far too much ( especially in the sale). I'm a size 10/12.

Found the clothes to come up quite small and be poor quality for the money (jumper, vest and dress). They don't wash well.

The pyjamas I bought are lovely but short in leg and I'm only 5'6.

I still look but I would not spend a lot with them any more.

I probably should have said that I'm only 5'2 and find the lengths fine, so things probably would be too short on normally-sized people! I'm a size 8-10 usually, but am always an XS in Hush (and sometimes the XS is still fairly generous, especially in tops). Haven't found that things wash badly though, although I'm a cautious washer and put lots of things on delicate cycles even where the labels suggest that they could withstand more.

I have a pair of brushed cotton PJs from Hush. They're nice, but not £45 worth of nice, which was (I think) the original price. I paid about £20 in the sale though. The material is good quality, but the cut is indifferent and they have a drawstring waist, which annoys me as they fall down if I leave it undone but it's fiddly to keep having to tie and untie.

I also have two sets of cashmere wristwarmers from them. These were gorgeous when new but did pill quite a lot, quite quickly. I still wear them and find them really useful for 75% of the year.

I like the look of the harem pants (especially if they are merino, as someone mentioned above - I've never seen merino ones!) but I keep missing them in the sales and am not about to pay full price!

By the sounds of it I probably need to wait for som sales bargains particularly as i really really do not need any clothes. I may be tempted with sending for one dress tho!

I have the Amy dress. It is a nice knit, good quality, but it hangs a little oddly (see those pointy corner bits at the bottom in the pics on the model? magnify that threefold...), and so I tend to wear it for working at home rather than out.

I also have a red jersey blazer, and I love the colour, but it is vv wide for an XS (I'm an 8-10) and as it has only one button it doesn't really do up that well. Not slimming, in short.

PJs are good quality and there are good reductions in the sale.

You need to beware, really, and be aware that their models are obviously totally stick thin, straight up and down, and seriously tall. You won't look like them. But you won't be the first person to have been fooled into thinking/hoping you might if you ordered from Hush. Their photos are very clever. The models often have their arms raised air, or are twisting their bodies a bit or standing with one leg slightly stuck out. You need to imagine how the clothes would hang on someone in normal posture and normal body dimensions.

I have bought a few things from
hush In the past couple of years. The knitted harems are brilliant - comfy, wash well and warm. The Lola joggers come out of the wash v slim fitting and stretch enormously after wearing for a few hours. They are only fit for PJs or at home days. The brushed cotton PJs are great now that they seem to have elastic waists rather than just the drawstring.

Was coveting the 'new Vanessa trousers' and bought two colours in the sale, they were awful, cheap and nasty fabric so went back.

OP I could have started this thread last year. I was bowled over by the gorgeousness of the Hush website and ordered lots of things to try- intending to keep whatever I liked the most and return the rest.

A beautifully presented box arrived but the contents were a disappointment. The sizing seemed all over the place and most things looked shapeless on me. I was so disappointed, it might be that I just don't suit their stuff, but I suspect that a lot of their appeal is due to very clever styling, as has already been suggested up thread.

The only thing I kept were done jogging pants, I agree with the poster who said they stretch enormously. They look great after washing, but I quickly end up with a saggy arse and waist so baggy that they are in danger of falling down.

I hope your experience is better than mine. Maybe I ordered the wrong stuff, wish there was a shop so I could try everything on!

I'm in my late 40's and I buy stuff from Hush.I Like the cotton/cashmere knitwear for winter.I have several of the Henley dresses and the boyfriend jumper.These all wash well.Last years scarves were also really nice cotton/silk mixtures.Pyjamas I ordered several years ago were terrible as were several assorted skirts and tops.This years grey tube skirt. Is OK though.I really love the brochure and the cashmere layered look it promotes.
