Do you wear wellies in the city when it's pouring?

Because I do but no one else seems to - they are all getting wet shoes. I do look a bit silly though, especially as the wellies have butterflies on.

Not sure what the city has to do with it, but I walk to work and always wear wellies when it's raining. I don't want to wreck my shoes and have wet feet all day

Wellies don't look odd in the countryside where there's lots of mud - that's what cities have to do with it!

Loads of mums where I am (Bristol) wear them on the school run if it's raining. It's a very sensible option.

So far I've counted one person going round the shops wearing wellies, and they were about 4 years old. Oh well.

I don't wear wellies - and I don't get wet feet if I am wearing shoes or boots. They are quite waterproof.

Do you really think non-wellie wearers are all walking around with wet feet?

I started doing it last year - the rain was torrential for weeks - and I refuse to get wet feet ever again for the sake of fashion, I felt a right tit the first couple of times but embraced it eventually. Dry feet are my reward :)

My wellies are orange and khaki with a flower pattern, they match my khaki parka

I must be wearing the "wrong kind" of shoes - they cope very well with getting wet. I do have some suede boots I don't wear on questionable days though.

All my summer footwear is not water proof,
Flip flops = wet
Converse = wet
Ballet shoes = wet
Wedges = wet
Birkies = wet

I do wear wellies but I am the only person here over 10 who seems to. I get many comments about the hilarity of my wellies at the school gate, most from a Mum who wears baggy combat trousers tucked into mid calf boots I am not pretending to have any great fashion knowledge but even I know that the cossack look isn't 'in'.

Exactly notso and I'd add ankle boots to that list - I have a pair of leather ones and a pair of suede ones, neither of which let water in but both look rubbish when they've been soaked.

It's nothing to do with what wellies look like - it's the connotations of sweat they carry with them.

That's why wellies are OK for the school run, on the way to work, in the countryside between vehicle and field but nonono don't go on an urban shopping trip in them.

I don't even own wellies. I wear good solid leather boots for reasons of ankle support (hypermobility) which have the added bonus of being sufficiently waterproof for walking around town in the rain. If I went wading round in ankle deep mud they'd not cope, but that's not something I do on an everyday basis!

Besides wellies are incredibly uncomfortable. No ankle support, no supportive footbed...I honestly can't understand why anyone would wear them unless aforementioned ankle deep mud was a real possibility.

I do have a good pair of waterproof winter boots, but they're fur lined and far too warm for a rainy summer's day. Naoko my wellies are not even slightly uncomfortable. I think I just secretly like wearing wellies and being able to splash through puddles
