When it's hot and you gave skirts as and dresses on , how do you stop blush chafing ? I'm just back from holiday and the inside of my thighs are raw <blushdoesntcoveritmortifiedemoticon>

Lots of threads on this. Top tips seem to be boxer / cycle shorts, talc, deodorant. Not all at once. Sympathies - I used to be a sufferer and it was hell.

I knew this would be chub rub.

Cycling shorts, and if you can't find any, don't be scared to take the scissors to a pair of leggings. It is the ONLY way I can prevent it.

sybilfaulty Thu 01-Aug-13 13:09:09

And not a fat person problem - anyone whose thighs meet at the top (which is many of us) can suffer. Pear shaped women apparently particularly prone.

Wasn't there a recent long thread on this? Possibly you'd find it by searching for "chub rub" (horrid term). The answer was cycling shorts. And possibly talc.

I didn't realise that sybil, that explains why my thighs rub!

ALittleBitOfMagic Thu 01-Aug-13 13:12:11

Oh thanks everyone . Think I will take scissors to old leggings . And I will search chub rub grin

People say Sloggi long legs help a lot as a solution.

But rather than look for a solution, maybe you are keen to remove the problem completely. if you're fit and well, can I recommend the 30 day shred DVD. It's even free on YouTube. 20 mins a day. Fantastic results.

Apparently this is the answer

Evans sell just the product! They are called 'comfort shorts' and go down to the knee. they come in three sizes and three colours and are £8 a pack.

I have several pairs wink

My dd who is 17 and slim suffers terribly from chafing- I don' think it's just fat people- it's (as she says) how her legs are attached!

I have just ordered her some of [[http://www.bandelettes.com/ these] after seeing rave reviews on Twitter. They haven't arrived yet- but I'll get her to review them when thy do.

I use Lanacane antichafing cream

aturtlenamedmack Thu 01-Aug-13 13:23:37

Roll on (dove/sure cream sticks are beat) works so well, as does talc but that's a bit messier!

allmycats Thu 01-Aug-13 13:24:33

Lanacane Anti Gel is brilliant.

Oh those bandelette things are lovely!

miffybun73 Thu 01-Aug-13 13:28:34

A bit of baby powder on the inner thighs helps.

polyhymnia Thu 01-Aug-13 13:39:12

I use Lanacane and it works perfectly.

NipLash Thu 01-Aug-13 13:46:40

I have the same problem. It's so painful! I've just ordered some Glide from Amazon. Haven't tried it yet, but it has good reviews…

roll on deodorant (something heavy duty like Mitchum) works a treat. You may need to reapply part way through the day if you're doing a lot of walking, so therefore more rubbing.

longjane Thu 01-Aug-13 14:03:57

I moisturise with body butter generously . It works

FrancescaFuddlebottom Thu 01-Aug-13 18:06:14

I use either lanacane or wear boxers.

I do intense exercise 5 hours a week, I am size 10 and I can't remove the problem, even though my thighs are rock solid...it's not a fat problem it's just leg shape for many of us.

These are cheap, comfy, thinner than the Evans ones (so are cooler) and don't ride up.

They say size 20, but I'm a 16 and find them comfy.

I started dieting this spring with the express aim of entering the summer without chub rub. Then I remembered I had it at the top of my thighs as a size 10 grin. It is much better now I have lost some weight and toned up but I think it will always be there slightly at the top due to my body shape. My solutions would be:

• Look to the skirt, does it encourage sweating and walking with your thighs close together? A cotton, waftier skirt will be much less likely to cause sweating and friction than mixed fibres or a straight or pencil shape.

• Deoderant will help with the sweating and is all I'm using at present, I'm not sure if this would have worked when I was larger and there was more flesh to rub together?

• Lanacane is great and the tube is easy to carry around in your handbag, there's no risk of staining or mess. Also handy for rubbing shoes and anywhere else friction becomes an issue in the heat.

• If you're doing a lot of walking you might want a fabric barrier, this adds heat, would you be more comfortable going for cotton Capri pants in the first place?

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone using bandalettes. My concern with these is do they show through clothes as stay-ups do sometimes? Are there potential circulation/ varicose veins issues with a tight band? They do look great smile

As I said, my dd is slim and chafes horribly. She says it's because her legs are on too close together- and it is odd- her friend who is the same size as her has a gap between her thighs, dd doesn't.
