Can we start a BODEN review thread for the AW stuff?

After much excitement at having a load arrive today I am sorely disappointed.

The trousers are TINY. I tried the very skinny jeans and can't even get the 10 to zip up, despite having loads of other size 10s in Boden trousers.

The Roma Ponte trousers are the same- tiny- and the rise is so short it's almost indecent. They feel like surgical stockings.

The peter pan dress is okay though a bit bulky around the middle even in an 8- so size down. Not sure if it's a keeper.

The cable jumper is itchy and shapeless.

The broderie jersey top is very big and makes me look PG due to the high empire line right across the middle of the bust.

So- everything going back and might re-order stuff using 20% off.

Has anyone got the EASY POCKET DRESS OR THE LIBBY DRESS ?

I ordered the Leather Pouch bag in fig, which arrived this morning.

I'm really happy with the size / shape / colour so it's a keeper.

Ha ha not only me with the super skinny jeans then!
Compared the measurements for the skinny and super skinny and cannot understand why the hip measurement is so much less and the rise less as well. I am going to size up as I like the fabric but suspect the waist will be too big then.
I also got the lightweight boatneck tee which appears to be narrower than the spring one and the off duty sweatshirt which is even bigger than the spring version and the oatmeal is a really strange colour.
Navy Brogues are on a 3 week wait.

Is there a code please?

Do you not trust their own product review section then??? I think Boden have one of the best online clothes retailer websites and use their product review section in order to know whether to order bigger/smaller/not at all.

I was SO disappointed with the super skinny jeans because I've recently lost 2lbs and my Boden summer chinos in a 10 are really comfy!

I was wondering about the urban trousers......

The codes are on the code thread. A995, I think.

Please could anyone who's got the Libby or Hannah dresses let me have feedback on their length? I'm tall (5'9'') and don't want anything very far above the knee.
Thanks.

Btw, last season, you had to size down on the Roma trousers, so perhaps they've over-corrected that this season!

missbopeep · 25/07/2013 12:37

duffle- it's nothing to do with trust - it's that the reviews can take 2-3 days to appear and I want to do exchanges asap.
There is usually a feedback thread on MN S&B - so it's nothing against them- you work for them perhaps?

I've ordered the urban trousers so will let you know how they fit when they arrive, also the honeycomb jumper, porchester skirt and button back jumper.

Ok stuff has just arrived.
Skinny urban trousers in washed black - fit really well. Seem to be true to size for me. Really like them.

Honey comb jumper in bright red - bright corally red. Fits well and is nice and soft. True to size fit. Another keeper.

Portchester skirt in maroon- - fits true to size. I'm 5'7" and bought regular length which comes just above my knee. Really nice shape.

Everyday button back jumper in geranium - bit boxy. Feels like it will bobble very quickly. Don't like the buttons down the back.

So 3 out of 4 isn't bad!

I have had my leather pouch bag in tan. I love the bag, and bought a red one in the sale, but the tan colour is a little bit bleurgh. It's not a nice tan. Hmm. Not sure. I have some other stuff on its way which iirc is mainly for the DC.

Also want to know about the Libby dress.

2 of my 3 preview orders arrived today. As usual, sizing is a bit all over the place and I can never decide if I am a 6 or 8 in Boden.

Libby dress - I ordered the navy stripe in an 8 petite. The fit was OK but I hated the material, even for winter. Too thick / heavy and didn't seem to sit well. It's going back.
Must have tunic - I ordered the 8 petite and the fit is lovely. Ordered the navy but wasn't really struck on the brown birds and so am exchanging for the fig / pink colour way. Will work well with thick tights and biker boots I feel.
Bird print shirt - I got this in the 6 petite. Nice quirky print which is very me for work. Similar to the spot shirt from the spring range which I have worn to death! Will be excellent tucked into a pencil skirt or slim trousers.
Rainy day mac - I ordered the blue spot in an 8 petite. Could possibly have got the 6 as is roomy but will keep as will want thick sweaters under it in winter. Good petite length and sleeve length. Nice print without being too 'in your face boden' if you know what I mean! Great over jeans for weekends and the school run.
canonbury clutch - I got the bright pink - not quite as bright pink as it appeared on my laptop. Well made although the leather is quite stiff. Adjustable strap and no hideous contrast lining in this colourway - a pet hate of mine!! I will use as a clutch for nights out and also as a day bag across the body.
Elise top. I ordered the 6 and 8 petite in ivory. Not much between the 2 sizes to be honest. I really like this. The collar detail is nice and the sleeves sit well. Great for work with a pencil skirt or for a night out with cigarette pants. I may order another colour way.

A336 gets 15% off with free delivery and returns for anyone wanting to order.
Has anyone ordered the collared breton or the bow front blouse??

Thanks - I did wonder if the Libby material would be too stiff/heavy.

MrsPercyPig · 25/07/2013 16:44

I have the Libby dress!

HOWEVER, I'm refusing to try it on because they sent the wrong colour!

It is heavy weight but not formal looking which I was worried about.

Report
flowery · 25/07/2013 16:50

Can I ask about the waist on the Libby? I often find Boden waists too high.

Report
missbopeep · 25/07/2013 16:51

Oh BTw my order included the Urban Trousers- doh!
I had so much here- 2 boxes and 2 bags worth- that I'd quite forgotten the name of the trousers.

I have returned them. They are okay- but the petite as always are too short in the rise and the legs in the regular are very long. Could have shortened but overall I thought they were very £££ for jeans type trousers. I hope to pick up some jeans etc from Uniqlo for half the price.

I am 5ft nothing and a slim frame. The libby dress in petite was fine on me in terms of proportions, I just didn't like the material. That might just be a personal thing.

Waiting on the heeled brogues which I have high hopes for!!!!!

MrsPercyPig · 25/07/2013 17:51

The Libby dress is quite high waisted but not overly high. I'm keeping it.

I'm five foot six and it comes to just above my knee, so it's a good length and not frumpy.

It is quite heavy material so in the winter you would need a jacket rather than a cardigan as obviously the sleeves are thick and might look a bit silly.

Which colourway did you get, percy?

Report
MrsPercyPig · 25/07/2013 19:12

Well I ordered the green but they sent navy, I'll keep it as was going to order the navy anyway if the dress itself was nice!

Report
flowery · 25/07/2013 19:36

That's helpful thanks MrsPercy.

I do want to know about the green if anyone gets it. On the dummy picture it looks washed out green, and on the pictures with the model it looks bright green, and I'd only want it if it's bright.

My order arrived today. Just a couple of jumpers - Printed Button Back in grey with black spots and the Merino Crew in pink. Both are nice and sit well. Fine knits. Not decided yet. Might exchange the pink for green - dunno!

Now thanks to this thread, I've a few more bits in my basket. Skinny Urban Trousers, Libby Dress and Bird print everyday shirt. Have seen a couple of other pieces in the catalogue which I may also order .... just to try on, of course Grin.

Oh, and for DTs ... the regular anoraks which are perfect, as usual. Also, a jersey dress each and they're gorgeous.

I impulse bought the Beauvoir Blazer in 14 petite (red coloured one) and it arrived today. It's going back because it's a bit boxy around the shoulders and boobs, the lining feels weird and synthetic.. yet a kind of brushed cotton effect synthetic? Can't quite work it out. Anyway, although the body is a little big, the sleeves with their weird lining are quite tight even with a light summer top underneath. I can foresee sweaty pained arms, with out without jumpers on. I already have a blue Gap blazer that is gorgeous, is a 12 and fits me like a glove, and I feel fabulous in it. This Boden one made me look and feel a bit frumpy so back it goes. Ho hum.

Mine's out for delivery -

Ravello top in black (have this in grey already so hopefully a keeper)
Leopard skinny belt
J crew rip off jumper in red (hopeful)
Grey Roma trousers (not hopeful ^^)

Credit card taken a beating recently so it would be good if half went back to be honest

Just got my Hayley skirt in fig, my usual size - 18R - and it is FAB. Can't wait to wear in in the autumn with thick tights and knee high chestnut boots .

I love their skirts - they fit my rather pear shaped body!
