Does long or short hair suit me better (with pics for limited time!)

I currently have a kind of layeredy bob. I feel a bit frumpy (could be to do with still carrying too much baby weight) and have never been truly happy with any hair style

So I have put some pics on my profile of my hair in roughly chronological order. I would love to just wash and go which I can do with a longer style, so I'm wondering if I should go long again (also it's fashionable innit?) However, does the long hair drag down my narrow/petite face? And am I better with or without a fringe? Hair is thick and naturally a bit wavy

please bear in mind that I will look better in the older (long hair) photos as these were taken up to 10 years ago ie: pre DC!

If anyone wants to guess my age while we're at it (from the last pic) go for it, as I also have a slight reservation about longer hair now I'm a bit older.

Do your worst. I can take it.

You look lovely with both. I think I prefer the short hair, but totally understand why you prefer the long, so in your shoes would go for long. I do the same, like short hair but have it longer so I can shove it in a pony tail or clip when I am having a bad hair day!

What about a shorter bob without the fringe? You can tuck behind ears for ease and swish/move parting for a change?

Thanks landofsoapandglory that is helpful as I did wonder if it was just me being lazy so glad I'm not the only one!

fourqueens I have tried a shorter style like that once but it just didn't work on me. Only one non-digital pic of it so can't upload but the front bit 'cow licked'. Also I think you have to be really pretty & confident to get away with that sort of length

I like it long. and would guess you're 39?

I think you look best in the owl picture and the baby picture. One long and one short so maybe it's just the luck of getting a good photo!

I think long

In that case I think long. Both suit you, but at least long can be tied up and made to look neat and tidy with no effort. And no fringe.
I'm guessing 38?

I think shorter hair suits you better with a side fringe but the bob is slightly mumsy. I think stick to the shorter length but with something a bit more modern.

Maybe more of a graduated shape. You could wear it straight day to day and it would be long enough to tie the sides back or wear a hair band or for occasions you could work with your wave to creat something like this

I think longer would suit you perfectly if it was more styled - ie I would suggest that you grow it longer and have some choppy layers cut in - and also have a fringe - like this or if you want a more defined fringe - this

IMO bobs can look a bit 'mumsy'. Long layers gives you a longer style without it pulling down your features Smile

I think either length is fine, but prefer it without the little fringe.

You're very pretty, BTW.

I think the longer hair is better, you also look younger in it, and more fun, but i suppose if you want to look "mature" and "serious" then the short bob.

I think long, personally.

Makes you look younger!

As to age; 36?

Long does make you look younger

Whiteshade/LaRegina, yes that's it. I feel mumsy. Last cut I went from a graduated bob to more choppy like you say Whitershade and I let it do it's own wavy thing with some scrunching but no-one commented on it! I saw about 4 friends on the school run and not one person mentioned it so I took it that it didn't look good!

Kiki yes so much depends on the photo thats why I tried to upload lots

I seem to be getting more votes for long, and yes I think long but styled well would definitely be better than long but hanging.

Just to point out I was a lot younger in the long hair photos. I don't want to look mature/serious though, eek.... looks like this bob's got to go.

I like the style in the third photo, but I think you'd look fab with a sleek short style - something like in the fourth photo, but with all the length removed. (If that makes any sense at all - it's just that the photo looks a little bit like you with short hair, and then long hair photoshopped in (I think because the hair hanging down is slightly lighter).) I agree about the bob being slightly mumsy. And also that you're very pretty!

short suits you.
(you look younger in long because you were younger)

The best one with long styled hair in the black top and the short styled bob with baby one is a close second. Not much help sorry.

I think it looks better long. Although you look lovely with short hair too (you're very pretty!!) I think the long hair makes you look younger, and less mumsy.

Although you admit you were a lot younger in the long hair photos, you don't say how much - I'm guessing you're early 20s in the top couple of pix, and 34 in the baby pic??

Also, the beauty of long hair is that you can just tie it up so it's out of the way. Much less faffing around in a morning if you're short of time.

I think the first one is very nice, where your hair is a bit wavy. And I think long suits you - just don't go too long. I think shoulder length, or slightly above, and choppy/wavy.

I like it long but I'd have a sweepy fringe not grown in and trucked behind your ears.

Very pretty hair whatever you do with it. The colour is lovely and it has good texture. I like it long, as I think you suit it loose and would also suit things like french pleats. But I also think properly short would suit you, a pixie crop would work really well.

I think you'd look great with a short cut. Well shaped, which uses your hair's natural way of growing. I have a cowlick too (and double crown) and if you had a style which took advantage of the cowlick, I think you'd look very glam.

Longer hair suits you better.

You look 'mumsy' with the bob.

I'd say the bottom picture of you & DC with both of you looking at the camera is the worst for your hair, the length & 'limpness' of it adds nothing.

The pic of you wearing glasses is the one I think your hair looks best in, natural wave/tousled, it looks healthy & the slightly darker shade (although that could just be the lighting?) is more flattering to your skin tone.

longer softer suits you more. the shorter bob is a bit harsh and ages you imo.

i think you are 36
