Anyone tried no 7 stay perfect mascara or any other non - smudge mascara that does what it says on the tube??

That's it really - been using Estee Lauder double wear mascara and happy with it but I go through it really quickly and would prefer a cheaper alternative. Seen advert for the no7 one, just wondered if anyone had tried it? If not, any suggestions for alternatives?

TIA

The best thing about it is taking it off IMHO. It goes on well and doesnt smudge but It seems to be very dry on my lashes during the day and makes them look sort of crumpled. But it comes off very well with warm water in the shower, no panda eyes at all. First time I took it off I was concerned my lashes were falling out too but they are still there!

I love Benefit They're Real, one tube lasts ages too

BoomChicaBoom Thu 20-Jun-13 21:09:32

Thanks Captain, so would you say it's a more natural looking mascara or does it give good volume? The no 7 one I mean, I have actually tried the benefit one and it did indeed smudge, despite good looking lashes at first sad

CaptainKirksNipples Thu 20-Jun-13 21:53:03

Hmm not sure, im not too impressed with it. probably more lengthening than volume? I like that it doesnt smudge but i dont normally need a waterproof mascara. It doesn't separate very well so I can only put on one coat and then touch up the ends. If I put 2 full coats on it looked like clumpy spider legs!

It is a copy of Clinique high impact curling. Like all no7 stuff someone has normally done it first!

I'm very impressed with the new no7 mascara. It really does what it advertises and goes on very easily. Love it! Only bought it because my mum gave me a voucher. Will buy it again though grin

Almost what other ones have you tried?

I am also on the quest for the perfect mascara!

The no7 one is fab in terms of application & removal. However, I agree it isn't great for volume.

I found the benefit they're real was quite clumpy after a while.

Love Soap & Glory (can't remember the name) but find it smudges through the day and irritates my eyes.

A combination of no7 & soap n glory would be perfect! In the meantime sticking with no7 to avoid panda eyes grin

I have also got this mascara.
I love the fact that its so easy to take off its putting it on that is the problem!
I really hate the wand, the fact that the brush is too small and the bristles are tiny makes my lashes look clumpy and does nothing for me. What I have been doing is using a different wand from a different mascara to put it on.

My favourite is Avon Supershock Mascara. It stays on all day, I've only ever had a smudge when I've done it myself like a fool. And it comes off nicely with everything I've used.

Only problem is there's quite a few people allergic to Avon. I don't want to cause your face to swell up. sad

Hmm, does a perfect non - smudge mascara exist?? Added to the fact that my eyes seem to be extra smudgy for some reason...

I do actually really love the Estee Lauder one, doesn't budge and quite volumising but at £20 a tube when you go through it quickly, I just want to save some pennies! Thanks for all your input, guess I'm just going to have to try them out and see.

absolutely loving the Benefit But They're Real (or something - grey tube) mascara that came free with Elle recently. Will definitely be getting a big one. It's really jet black and doesn't shift and I always end up with grey rings under my eyes from straying mascara plus have runny hayfever eyes so it must be good to still stay put!

Blinc. Only mascara I have tried (and I have tried LOTS) that really doesn't smudge. I even wear it when I take my daughter swimming. Comes straight off with a bog-standard Simple make-up wipe and a little bit of rubbing. Only criticism is that it isn't the most dramatic or impressive looking on, so I stick with YSL most of the time and risk a little smudging.

BoomChicaBoom Fri 21-Jun-13 21:28:44

Hmm, I've never heard of blinc, are they the same people that do the eye drops? <clueless>
Is it sold in boots/superdrug?

I had a thread about just this a while ago... I'd used CLinique's Lash Power for years, and just fancied a change. I was recommended Blinc, but tbh, I don't think it's as good as my Lash Power: it's not as effective to start with, and it seems to vanish a bit. I also tried a Rimmel long last one, but that didn't last long at all.

BAck to Clinique for me, I think...

alltoomuchrightnow Sat 22-Jun-13 00:12:56

hmmm sounds a lot like Blinc to me. It doesn't stay put on me, the tubes just slide off onto my cheeks and above my eyes. Lash Power is the only one to work on me. However I'm a huge fan of Blinc's grey eyeliner. Most flattering shade of grey ever. Still needs touch ups though! I evidently have weird skin.

alltoomuchrightnow Sat 22-Jun-13 00:13:38

no, not the same as the eyedrop people . I used to get it in Pout but i think they went bust. Get it on eBay now.

DHC mascara, same idea as boots one but very natural looking and not clumpy etc

AuntieMaggie Sat 22-Jun-13 08:20:04

I've been using rimmel london lash accelerator endless mascara and quite like it. I bought it cos it was on offer at the time. It can be a bit of a pain to get off but seems to last ok and I had a good cry the other week and my friend commented that my mascara was still good and asked what i used.

I hate the scandaleyes mascaras though - the brushes are too fat and it straightens my lashes. I actually threw it out and for a cheapskate like me who would normally continue using it regardless thats saying something!

I tried the fanomenal one from no7 and that was quite

I never seem to buy the same one twice and will be buying a new one soon. But I have never found and of the more expensive ones to be any better than No 7.

I think for me the plastic brush seems to work best rather the traditional brush as it separates and coats better.

thelittlestpickle Sat 22-Jun-13 12:37:34

if you use the MAC mascara base before putting pretty much any mascara on, it sticks like glue. it's actually really hard to remove so a toss up between it coming off too easily without the base or being a bugger to remove with one. on the plus side, you can easily get two days out of your mascara with the base on smile

BoomChicaBoom Sat 22-Jun-13 21:57:28

I'm going to have to go on a testing spree, well, the ones I'm allowed to test anyway- do no7 counters let you try mascaras? Don't want to waste cash - could have just got my Estee Lauder one! Thanks for all the suggestions!

buildingmycorestrength Sat 22-Jun-13 22:12:21

It can be affected by the oil content of your moisturiser, I think? Having said that, I've used a couple of very cheap mascaras that haven't smudged, Body Shop waterproof was one.

Spookey80 Sat 22-Jun-13 23:16:06

Clinique lash power- natural and never smudges.

ComradeJing Sun 23-Jun-13 04:19:17

Opulash by mac. It's soo much better than lash power and doublewear. Properly thickening and lengthening, comes off in hot water and doesn't smudge at all. My dear friend has smudge eyes and opulash doesn't budge withher.

TheBeanAndTheBee Sun 23-Jun-13 08:33:36

Blinc is the ONLY one that doesn't smudge on me...
