I just want some that won't clump. I don't need to look like my lashes are 20 ft long. There were a thousand different types, different wand styles, all claiming brilliance.
How the hell am I supposed to know which are good and which are crap? I thought my head was going to explode so I walked out and decided to ask on here first.
Please, please can you recommend brands you really like or even tell which ones to avoid?

I have been using Max factor Masterpiece, the black one, for years now.
Just for a kick, I tried a Lancome, a clinique and a rimmel. Then I went back to max factor and swore never to experiment again.

There is a Clinique one that I like, a friend who is very into make up bought it form me, I think it's the high impact one.

Other than that I like Boujour mascara, plus they do it on Ocardo which I like so if all else fails I can get it with my food shopping (I have small DC's who seem to hate shopping).

If they are giving No7 vouchers with purchases over £5 in boots I will buy a No7 one, they are not my favorite though tbh.

I've had Estee Lauder in the past too and they have been good.

I like Maybelline Great Lash mascara. It didn't clump when I used it. I would be inclined to get one that promises to define rather than one which promises volume or length.

Thank youSmile I will look in to all those mentioned!

Avoid Benefit's 'they're real' mascara, very disappointing. It's ok but not 'WOW'

I like the Benefit "They're Real" mascara it doesnt clump. but you could get the same a lot cheaper. However it does not irritate my eyes when wearing contacts so worth it for me.

Also a fan of Great Lash.

I am using a Clique waterproof one at the moment which is excellent.

I have the black and white one from Aldi. I also have one by Clinique and Lancôme. The best one by far is the Aldi one.

I keep coming back to a L'Oreal one - the one in the gold tube. Called something like Telescopic. I've tried loads of others (including some 3 times the price) and can't find anything else as good.

Revlon Grow Luscious, Barry M's Lash Modelling.

I always wear L'Oreal voluminous but it is very thick and dramatic so probably not what you're after!

Clinique doesn't clump

Max factor for me too. I did buy benefit but I found it to smudge very easily.

Max Factor Masterpiece here too. Have been using it for years, occasionally buy a different one that always ends up in the bin.

DD bought the Rimmel Lash Accelerator and in a turn around from the norm of her nicking my make up, I borrowed it and it is fabulous - no clumping, long defined lashes, not waterproof but no smudging and doesn't run when your eyes water. £9 I think.

It is actually called Lash Accelerator Endless - green packaging

Avon Superextend. It's £8.50 and one of the best Ive ever used. No clumps, it doesn't flake off, gives clear definition without looking unnatural and with an easy to use straight wand. No, I don't work for Avon but I'm delighted to have found a mascara that suits me!

bigbuttons · 25/05/2013 20:23

does anyone understand all the different wand shapes? Are they just gimmicks?

Max Factor Lash Extension in brown-black, natural looking lashes just longer, darker and slightly thicker looking.

Collection 2000, the one in the black tube with yellow writing it's £5 and amazing :) to stop the clumping use a mascara brush that's pretty much dried up after your normal full mascara and it leaves you with thick long lashes Smile

The Aldi one has a white and black end which gives fuller lashes with less black used. It has never clumped and never run down my face Smile I have hay fever which is murder on mascara and the Aldi one is best for me.
