Where can I get some lightweight sweatshirty type tops like these?

With a thousand apologies for the DM link, I really need some tops like the ones Gisele is wearing here.

DS is six months old, and whilst I'm finally starting to get on top of my belly issues I could do with some casual, forgiving tops to wear with jeans in the interim. I've got more summery stuff, but with this weather I'm starting to lose hope of ever being able to wear them.

And yes, I realise I am probably on a fools errand to even think about attempting to recreate a Gisele look... Blush

Thanks.

Cos has something like that. Love te gap ones Are they thin?

Report
MrsCampbellBlack · 18/05/2013 09:23

Those ones aren't that thin but they've got some newer ones in that did look thinner.

I've got the gap ones in neon pink and navy but bizarrely they were in the sale ages ago for about £9.99 each

I have eon pink long sleeved t shirt also in sale not quite so scary after a few washes and like a facelift with fake tan!

Gap ones look good, but also wondered about thickness. Were the thinner ones in store? Quite like this too.

I will investigate Cos.

I got a great bright orange jersey sweatshirt top in topshop. It's not showing on line but it has a dipped hem and unhemmed edges and is great with pale blue jeans. I am bf twins so it's perfect to pull up and feed both of them and it's washed really well (and doesn't need ironing!)

Like the raglan ones prefer that neckline

I have just bought a lovely Whistles one, £39 in the sale on ASOS. It's grey with a blue/black leopard print.

There is a similar one for £7 in the men's bit of the H&M website.

That Whistles one is lovely, but don't think it would suit me.

I've thought of looking for men's ones, but I ideally want a wider neckline than they would have.

FreeButtonBee - do you know if they had any other colours? Orange is a bit of a no-go for me unfortunately.

I think I might go on an expedition to Gap this afternoon and see what they've got in-store.

The grey top is identical to the H&M one I'm currently wearing, it was also available in blue. The sleeves are turned up with a couple of stitches to keep them in place.

M&S have a stripy lightweight sweatshirt, with elbow length sleeves if that's any use. Looks like it came from a proper shop, think it costs 17 quid.

Dependant on budget, White Company have some gorgeous ones. I tried it on in the shop but couldn't quite justify the cost as I don't wear jeans often. It was lightweight so more of a spring/summer top than a cozy sweatshirt. It was very soft and flattering though.

Peacocks do them for £7 here in coral and neon pink £10 but cheaper in blue and purple for some reason, called 'Spring sweat'

Primark or Asda. I always get asked where I got my Asda ones from.

Thanks everyone.

Just been in to town and.... Primark came up trumps! Good call, bishboschone. Got a couple there for £8 which should see me through until the weather turns/my belly shrinks (no idea which is likely to come sooner).

I am now the spitting image of Gisele (hahahahahahahahahahahahaha).

Gap only had a couple with GAP emblazoned on them. I have no idea why they still do this.

Quite like the Peacocks neon pink one too. I'm refusing to spend any proper money on clothes until I'm back at my pre-pregnancy size.

YoniOno - the peacocks site says the one you linked to is 65% polyester? Would be thrilled to find it is actually cotton as that much polyester would feel uncomfortable on me. I have the Whistles one Babyclam recommended which I got with an extra 10% off so £35 which I think is pricy but not outrageous and I didn't find anything in cotton for much less.

I love this one from Hush. Already have one in bluey/grey that I've worn out. Very breastfeeding friendly worn with vest underneath. Also tempted by that Whistles one though. What is the sizing like? Normally wear 12 but baps still massive at 4 months postnatal...

Report
mysteryfairy · 18/05/2013 22:45

Sizing is pretty generous for the Whistles top but I still went up a size to get a slouchy fit. I actually ordered it *3 to get the best size as Asos unusually for these days do both free delivery and returns. The neck is higher than I normally wear though - might not be great for breast feeding proportions, but nothing to lose by trying.
