Ruthless spring clean - style this skirt for me or it goes!

Vivienne Westwood

An online purchase that has been worn once. Its lovely - a really heavy drill cotton but the colour just doesnt seem to work for me. Top half is fine I can wear with plain black, even a gorgeous flame colour but everytime I have it on I look at my legs and back to the wardrobe it goes. Too summery really for black tights, with bare legs or tights it just looks meh and then I struggle with shoes. I think the problem is its the same colour as my legs!

Anyway lesson learnt never buy beige again no matter how much of a bargin. But before it goes I thought I'd see if any of you lot have a better answer....

Thanks!

Yep it's nice but I see your problem. Chuck it! (unhelpful)

Not sure if this will help but I would try it with white or taupe fishnets (saw both in Calzedonia) or very sheer taupe (=bordering on khaki) or black tights. Saw someone looking extremely chic in taupe/ khaki sheer tights last week. The beige in your skirt and other similar shades are very hard to pair for me too when my skin is pasty after winter. Ebay or send to OneLittleLady it if the pairings won't work.

The general rule with nude/skin shades is, buy a shade or two lighter than your skintone. That way the tone enhances your natural tone. Try to match the undertones too - my winter legs have a bluish/greenish tinge, so pinky and yellowish nudes make them look even unhealthier.

I would dye it. That skirt has such a flattering silhouette it would be a shame to let it go. Any top stitching might not dye (as probably poly) but a contrast stitch won't look out of place on a Westwood piece.

Or.

Sell it to me Grin

I would dress it right down as that draped shape has become very Essex unfortunately. Or put it on eBay!

Another dye it from me. Or take it to a dress agency where you may get more than on ebay.

Ooh I do love a bit of Viv! Have you tried it with nude fishnets and mad shoes? Maybe tan wedges or platforms? Or bright red or pink? Must admit I'd prob wear it with black tights too (but I wear pretty much everything with black tights tbh).

I think nude fishnets would be lovely. And any heels. I think it's lovely.
