i have bright pink flowers on top of my foot.have had them now for about 5 years.i find that using foot moisturizer on them (Or whatever cream you use) helps keep them looking good. Also if you go out in the sun put plenty of suncream on them/it.

My friend is a tattooist so I'm constantly picking his brain on these things.

He told me that it all depends on how you let the tattoo heal depends on how faded it will become. So for example a hand/foot tattoo will fade quicker as a lot of people wear incorrect shoes for the healing process therefore tattoo is considered damaged by 6 weeks. Also if you don't use sun cream that will fade a tattoo a lot.

Obv tattoos will fade over time but if you look after your tattoo correctly within the healing time you should be able to keep it bright for quite some time.

I have a tattoo on the top of my foot, had it done 3 years ago and it hasn't faded.

I do put SPF on it though if I am wearing flip flops on a sunny day. My SIL has one in the same place in a watercolour style, she doesn't protect it and it has faded but could be due to the style.

Yes, if they're on a part where shoes rub. My sister has one that used to be symmetrical. It still looks good though, and the rubbed bit isn't gone, just lighter

I've got some in each instep (ouch at the memory) and they've faded a little. Probably as it was hard to let them heal properly. They need touching up shock

Oh poo the writing blurs? I wanted a little line of writing along the side of my foot. It'll fade and blur wont it?
I already have one with writing on my thigh but I really wanted it on the side of my foot. Where else could I have it?

They do fade a bit. I have one large one on my ankle and it's faded a lot over 20 years... dh is covered in tattoos and some older ones have faded a bit. The main thing is don't get tiny writing as it will blurr!

All tattoos fade over time, I've never heard of ones on feet fading faster than anywhere else

I've had one on my foot for about 6 years and its not faded. However, it was never really bright. It's on the top/slanty side bit of my foot. Hurt like buggery.

I've got one on my foot, ont the top bit and it hasn't faded. It must be about ten years old.
The one on my hip has, but I think that's due to changing body shape.

I have heard this too.
I have 3 smallish stars on the inside of my wrist. I think it has faded a little. Not excessively.
You can always have them re-inked if they do fade.

i always wanted a foot one. I was told they fade because of the footwear rubbing. so you really have to choose a part of foot that won't ever chafe...top of foot more than side? I actually don't know how true it is though. My wrist and back ones are both black and have faded quite a bit naturally . I forget to sunscreen my wrist one.

I'm not an expert, but I thought all tattoos faded? Or perhaps recent techniques/inks are more permanent than they used to be?

I'd love to have one on the side of my foot in writing but apparently they fade?
