Has anyone found the ultimate snag-proof stockings/tights?

I haven't.

I am now switching from opaques to sheerer stockings for work. I occasionally have to wear black/off black but I find I so much have to touch the stockings to put a snag in them. So by the time I put them on, they have little nicks up and down them. I even moisturise my hands before I put them on.

I don't mean holes or ladders, but just a tiny little nick/line which spoils the line of perfection. It is dark tights that is the problem, I can wear nude/tan ones as it is less noticeable if I put a nick in them.

How do other ladies have such perfect sheer stockings Envy. Any advice/brands gratefully received.

If you really want sheer, then you need to put silky gloves on before putting them on.

Or wear micronets - they are incredibly robust and look fab

yy, micronets

Thanks, both.

I will check out micronets but from googling they look like they might just cross the line in the conservative law firm where I work.

Where can I get silky gloves?

Just butting in as I keep reading about micronets - are they by Levante?

Hosiery gloves.

I've had a few brands of micronets, but Levante are my favourite

There are seriously gloves to put your tights on with Shock

but what happens after you go to the loo? I couldn't seriously take the gloves into the work loo with me!

And are these micro net tights really suitable for work?

Levante micronet tights Click on the thumbnail image to get a good squint.

I think I would need to be brave to wear micronets to work

CMO, thanks for the link to hosiery gloves. Well you learn something new everyday.

Eeyore, I guess for the loo you only roll down the top end of the tights which should be hidden under your clothing anyway, so not so terrible if they got a few toilet snags.

I don't think anyone would really notice in nude if you were just walking around or sitting behind a desk as the micro ones are really micro.

Oh yes, they aren't at all fishnetty, more like very fine tulle.

No ones ever noticed that mine are micronet - it took some serious peering in the back of a taxi (from convention centre to hotel) for my female colleagues to see what they are after I said about them

In that case, micronet could just be the answer. Cannot wait. Will pop into Boots today and see what I can find. Thanks, all!

Wolford tights cost a fortune but do last ages. I have several pairs that just won't die!

Pusspuss, are the Wolford tights you speak of sheer tights? What denier are they?

I've worn fishnets to work (City law firm) - when they were popular a few years back. No one batted an eyelid.

For every day tights, I find M&S is best, particularly the Autograph tights.

I have been known to wear normal winter gloves to put tights on - my hands can get like sandpaper in the winter.

Euro, I work in a City law firm too (3 at last count) and have seen women in fishnets. I would not have batted an eyelid but inside felt slightly cringy. But that's just me. Better you than me!

Lawyer tights thread, yay! I've occasionally worn fishnets to my old law firm (West End), but I felt a bit racy for work in them, and did get the odd male colleague doing a comedy double take... I think micronet is less noticeable, though.

With the Wolford ones, I have a nude but slightly thicker than usual pair, that look sheer but are very robust. I bought those after getting really cross about constantly laddering my normal M&S ones on the first wear. I also have a good barely black pair from Wolford. They do thinner varieties too, but both times I went a fraction higher in the denier hoping that they'd last longer, which has worked out well. Visually, I suspect no one else would notice the difference.

For me the equation is simple. Stockings/hold ups last longer than tights.

Ten denier are for occasion wear, fifteen denier are more durable. Fifteen denier wolfords last forever

Thanks, pusspuss, the Wolford tip is great. Just noticed the cost between £22-24! But if they last forever (and look great), hey, no sacrifice is too great.

Lucy, I am off to get 15 denier.

I also got a pair of hosiery gloves. Dh asked me why I am putting on a white pair of gloves in the morning!

Taking notes! My DS just wants to scramble on my knee as soon as I pick him up and the Velcro on boys shoes is a killer...

OMG, there are tights on the Wolford site that cost £125 Shock When people said they were expensive but last for ever, I was thinking £15 and that might be worthwhile Blush

I've tried (cheap) micronets before and the appearance was like not very smooth opaques. Are the Levante ones much better than that?
