Evening invite to a wedding

Will anyone care what I look like? Grin I won't be in any of the official photographs and it'll be dark, right?

I left it too late to ask abut the dress code and it turns out to be one of those ultra glam occasions, cocktail dresses, low backed dresses, pearls are required. Now I don't have a glitzy dress, I don't want to spend loads buying one, I don't have time. I trawled the shops on Sunday and could find nothing suitable. Now the ony shopping I can do now is online using click and collect delivery.

I picked up this www.next.co.uk/x512126s2#144345x51
It at least looks ok on me, even if its not glam, could be dresed up a little. We have to get a train, have a fair bit of walking and want to spend sometime in the city centre before the evening bash starts. Please tell me now if I'll look shit and I'll rustle something up with a bin liner and glitter.

I'm now having the shoe drama and don't even own a pair of boring black heels. I find it hard to walk in heels anyway. Then i have wide feet which make shoe shopping a hopeless task. I did think of black ballerinas with glittery bits but they cripple me within half an hour.

www.next.co.uk/x512362s3#144290x51 I tried on a pair of these and they actually fit and because they're not low cut they don't hurt. Will they look crap with black tights and that dress for a wedding?

I do get on with Hush Puppies, I could go for these

But I don't fancy spending money on shoes atm

I'm finding it really hard to enter into the spirit of the party and feel like going sod it and buying something like these

No-one will notice, they will all be hammered by the time you get there! I think the dress, tights and shoes you have chosen will be fine for the wedding. Mind you the DMs are awesome!!

What were you originally planning on wearing?? Seems like a very specific dress code to me... If it was that specific surely the info should have been on the invitation? Confused

If I were you I think I would wear what you had originally planned, I'm sure it will be appropriate even if doesn't exactly fit the "code"...

I hadn't thought about it at all and had no plans or clothes. I'd assumed the usual wedding attire and then forgot about it entirely Blush

I think the dress is fine, I wouldn't normally wear jersey for a formal event but it's quite subtle and can be dressed up with a necklace.

The studded slippers (if that's the correct link) are a no-no (sorry). They are very odd looking and I think they will look wrong with the dress and tights.

I do however love those Hush Puppies shoes but they are pricey if you aren't wanting to spend much at the moment.

I would go with the dress, tights and either splash out on the Hush Puppies or continue looking for some low comfortable plain black heels that are less expensive. Please don't buy the studded slippers Grin

I think the dress will be fine but will need to be dressed up with heels. The slippers are too casual I think, sorry.

I my heart of hearts I know you're right about heels :)

Can't believe I couldn't find one single dress for me in town last weekend. All I wanted was a simple classic dress but the stores are full of sale items.

I've got those Hush Puppies shoes in a teal blue colour (£20 brand new on ebay - if you're interested in finding them in other colours for less £££ you might have some luck if you search ebay) and they are super duper amazing comfortable. I wore them for work until the day I finished for mat leave and they were great, like slippers! Get them, you'll wear them again.

Oh there's tons of them on ebay - I might get another pair myself. The sizes are funny though, I would size down - I got a 7 initially but they were massive, I returned them for a 6 and they're perfect.
