Insanity Workout

Hey, I was told about the Insanity workout by a friend at work, and after deciding I needed to lose some weight I went ahead and bought it.

Just waiting for it to be delivered, has anyone else done this workout? How hard is it? I'm nervous for starting now after some of the reviews I have read.

It is, ermm, insane. But it works! I lost about two dress sizes and looked about a million times better. But it is insane. Did I mention it's insane?

I'm about to start he 4th week, to be honest I'm not finding it that hard at all and I'd quite like to fast forward onto month 2 where I'm hoping it will get harder. I do quite a lot of exercise in general though so perhaps I'm just a bi more used to it. I'd imagine if you've never done anything like it before it would feel pretty tough.

I've been considering getting it, I just feel a bit scared as I've heard horrible things about it.

Month 2 is insane, I have written goodbye letters to my family in case I don't make it through Grin I am down a dress size with a couple of weeks to go though so its worth it.

Advice - you have to wear a sports bra, you need heaps of water, don't expect to see results in the first month, you will be feeling loads fitter by week 3 though, the annoying little woman with dark hair is , in fact, that annoying in all the dvds so don't think it will improve, and lastly don't give up, usually about 10 minutes from the end he gets his top off (even pours water over himself in some of them) just to give you a little perv incentive Wink

I would love to try it but it's £££££!

Agree that the first month is a bit demoralising - you have to eat properly to fuel the workouts, and I didn't really lose much, but as soon as I got into the second month (MUCH harder) things started to shift.

I am now very scared of beginning he 2nd month in a weeks time!

Could someone give me a run down of timings for the 2nd month?

Most of the DVD's in the 1s monh seem to consist of:-
10 ish min warm up
6-8 min stretch
20 min workout
short stretch afterwards.

At the moment I'm skipping some of the stretching so I can fit the workouts into my lunch hour. Just wondering how much time I'll have to devote o week 5 and the 2nd month.

Sweetheart its the same amount of stretching but around half an hour- 40 minutes for work out in the second month.

I wouldn't recommend skipping the stretches on them though, its pretty hard core.

missey I thought that might be he case, I don't skip stretching all together - I just do it a lo quicker than 6 minutes Wink

Looks like I'll be getting up at stupid o'clock every morning to complete month 2 then!

Anyone thinking its mega bucks - try Ebay Grin

Oh another tip as well, it says you can sign up to the website to chat with people starting the same time as you, and you get assigned a coach but it doesn't let you sign up at a UK address, I emailed them politely stating that I couldn't sign up and they registered me on the site from their office address, so if you do want to be part of the forum just email them.

I'm interested in how much work there is on the arm area? I have a chronic nerve pain problem in one of my arms and I'm wondering if this work out would serve to aggravate it or whether the stretches would actually help me. Obviously, I know it's unlikely that any of you will be qualified to give medical advice, I'm just after a general idea of how much you actually do with your arms.

The arm work is pretty heavy duty as well, its all push ups and power jacks and obliques. I am not a medical professional but I don't think Insanity would be good for someone with any sort of painful medical condition tbh.

Thanks, I think I'll have to give it a miss and look for something a little less intense

The warning about full physical health is greater at the start of insanity than any other DVD I've done. It's along the lines of, "we really mean this and we're not shitting you; if you're unfit or have any recurring injury, bog off and come back when you're all better and/or fitter."

Report
OneLittleLady · 30/04/2013 17:35

Definitely sounds like it's not for me then. Shame as I've heard people get really good results from it Sad ah well, I will look for something a bit more gentle that isn't going to make my health issues any worse. Thanks for the heads up ladies
