BB cream - I don't get the hype

Am I doing it wrong?

All my friends are raving about it, but I just don't get it.

I don't like thick foundation so it was recommended to me as the best thing since sliced bread

I had a No 7 voucher so I thought I'd give it a go, but I end up with such a shiny face - I do have slightly oily skin in patches (and bought the one for oily skin) but my whole face looks awful with this stuff. I never get a shiny face with foundation. It also makes my face feel odd, kind of sticky

Is it just the No7 is a bit crap? Do I need to persevere with different brands? I just don't see that it's any better than tinted moisturiser or light foundation. I don't get it

Any recommendations for a non-shiny brand

I have the garnier one which looks lovely but gives me spots on my chin.
Hth!

I have a practically reflective face & the Garnier one is amazing. (I'm also very pale and it gives the impression of a glow which is nice) Smile

I love the Maybelline one. I HATE foundation, but this gives me lovely coverage when i need a bit more than just powder. Never ended up with an oily face.

I use the Two Faced one which I think I saw in Boots when I was back in the UK. The finish is very smooth and even.

I bought an expensive Elizabeth Arden one at an airport once without reading the box and it was for very pale Asian skin (like a true original BB IYSWIM)

I looked like a Geisha... Blush

Definitely get a sample or test in the store next time.

Skin79 ones are lovely.

Except the pearl one which made me look like a sparkly My Little Pony.

I really liked it when I first put it on. But after an hour or so I was Shiny McShiny

I currently use No7 Intelligent Coverage which I love, not too thick but enough coverage. The BB cream wasn't any improvement

I have a Dior BB cream, it is excellent.

I want to look like a sparkly my little pony. Sounds like a big improvement.

I have the L'Oreal one. My skin has been MUCH better since I started using it - I have dry skin and it's cured that, as well as apparently keeping any random spots at bay. I've stopped needing to use concealer at all.

My only worry is that it's a bit orange for my very pale, freckly skin. I keep meaning to investigate some others but I have them problem that if I match totally to skin colour it can make my freckles look v odd indeed.

I use the bobbi brown one and mix it with a pea size amount of mac strobe cream, it's luffely.

I luffs strobe cream.

I keep asking MAC consultants when they will do a European BB but they only sell in Asia still.

The Dior one is not orange, I am quite pale and it is good for me. Sometimes to add staying powder I add the pink powder that goes with it and that makes it appear even lighter.

I have tried a few and found l'oreal the best, leaves a nice finish and not shiny at all

I only discovered BB cream yesterday; I'd never heard of it before. I'm wondering what the difference is between BB cream and tinted moisturiser?

My freckles show through the skin79 ones so it still looks like my skin but just better. They are Korean so made for v pale skin.

Well, I've given it another go today

I love it when I first put it on, it takes about 10 years off me, you can still see my freckles so it gives me a sort of sun kissed look.

But an hour later and I'm shiny

Am carrying round a pot of powder which I'm slapping on with gay abandon

If you're finding the No. 7 one a bit oily, you might like the Garnier one for oily/combination skin. NOT the one for normal/dry skin, they are very different! It's very good, and less than a tenner.

Just like foundation, there are good and bad BB creams, and ones which suit different skins.

I use Pure BB cream... £1.99 in savers and it's fab. I put a little bit on my fingertips and then just smooth it over my face to take away all of the blemishes. I then blot it if it looks too heavy.

I prefer it to foundation. It doesn't go shiny and it lasts all day plus it doesn't look too heavy.

I use the L0real Nude Magique and love it. I never wear foundation as I always look orange or white, but the Nude Magique just kind of blends in to my natural skin tone, but blends out any freckles, brown spots etc.

I have the garnier sensitive skin bb cream. It looks lovely on but I do still get the odd greasy looking patches (nose, forehead) by mid afternoon. I prefer the feel of it to foundation as I don't really like wearing make up but I look hideous with none on.

I have the boots no 7 one I was sceptical but its great over moisturiser for a natural flawless look. I use such a small amount it will last forever.

I use the Bobbi Brown one - I put it on with a brush, I don't know if that helps? But it evens out my blotchy skin without looking caked and you can still see my freckles.

Best thing (which I only discovered last night) is that if you fall asleep with it on, you still look nice the next morning.
