White Jeans - ok, or not?!

I can't quite make my mind up - to carry them off do you need to be slim and tanned?

Be interested in any opinions! Ta

No to both... plenty of pale-russian tennis players wear white jeans (not tanned) and plenty of curvy and "amply proportioned" women do it to. The secret is to buy jeans IN YOUR SIZE, you don't want to look like a reject from a sofa factory either.

Russian tennis players are usually 6 foot and size 8!!!

I totally get the "right size" thing - apart from anything else I cannot bear uncomfortable clothes....

Well, I'll have a think! Thanks for your reply.

I like them but think they need to be kept classic rather than trendy to avoid too strong a statement, unless of course you are 18, tall, slim and tanned or at least 2 of those things. Skinny white jeans (especially with embellishment) on an older, more realistically proportioned woman risks tarty or silly. But I think straight leg or flare can look fantastic. I saw a 70 year old (I only know because she told me) in white straight leg jeans, bright pink t shirt and denim shirt over the top and she looked really chic and stylish and comfortable.
Oh they also need to stay really white. Buy lots of Napisan if you do go for it! (Unlike the rest of this post that is not opinion but FACT).

I think Sonotkylie and me are saying the same thing, but with varying degrees of tact!

I love white jeans. Pretty much any cut - including three quarter or ankle length. If they get a bit dirty, so what.

I love them and wear them a lot in the spring/summer. Don't think there's an age or size limit - just buy ones that suit you.

Not unless you're Liz Hurley.

I like them. Cut is key. Higher waisted worn with a hip length or longer top is flattering.

I have a yearning for white jeans this summer! I know, I know, as a pear I shouldn't go there but I really want them!! Lovely, no matter the age, if they're a good shape. I fancy a baby boot-cut pair. Anyone know a reasonably priced pair?

I think Emmanuel is now the queen of white jeans - Liz h much as I love her is a bit last decade.

Pinterest great for finding lots of white jeans inspiration.

I have topshop baxters and Hudson baby bootcuts in white - both fab.

i really like them. i want some too. i want low hipster style, and poss a bit slouchy rather than tight tight.

do your baxters sit low or high mrsCB?

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/04/2013 14:59

They're quite high but they're last years and I think they've changed their cut - they certainly have of the indigo baxters to my chagrin.

River Island amelie also nice in clean white.

Ooo, golly, I was expecting a resounding "what the hell are you thinking"..

Thanks all, good to know I'm not alone in desiring a pair!

You need to write to Liz Hurley asking her to grant you permission to wear white jeans.

I'm neither young nor slim but I do love them too and feel good in them in summer.
Buy the best quality you can.
Agree they, and the tops, etc you put with them, need to be pretty plain to look classy not tacky. I really like a monochrome look, with a simple black or black and white top -specially with a bit of a tan. But lots of colours work with them too.

I wouldn't wear them myself, I'd be too afraid of people mistaking my bum for the moon! However, I think they look nice on other people as long as they are the right size (obviously) and the right cut for the persons shape. I say go for it

Yep, I'd be paranoid that I'd start to spontaneously bleed as I eased my limbs into my Liz Hurley jeans. I'd spend the day manically checking my arse, not a good look.

I've always wanted to wear them but am totally the wrong shape and they don't flatter me one bit. If they do suit you though I think they can look sexy, classic and 'European' in a good way. I don't think it's to do with how thin/tall you are but whether they suit your shape and what you wear them with. Worth trying some on and seeing what you reckon.

I bought some off-white MiH ones this year, yet to wear.

Also love the pale/white with white or monochrome thing.

I love them - not too much in the way of blingy jewellery with them though or would probably look a bit euro trash!
