grin

How did we finish the other thread so fast...? Less than a month.

MrsSchadenfreude Sat 13-Apr-13 14:04:55

I have just purchased some very nice fig cologne from Monoprix - tis the ubiquitous "Bien-Etre" but a new "flavour." Most pleasing.

motherinferior Sat 13-Apr-13 14:05:19

Fab title!

grin

bigTillyMint Sat 13-Apr-13 14:11:36

Like it!

MrsSchadenfreude Sat 13-Apr-13 14:11:36

A sudden and rare flash of inspiration!

Am going to drag DD2 to the huge H & M at La Defense tomorrow, so thank you for your offer, but I will see how we go there. No matter what she wears, it will be wrong, according to my mother, so I need to find her something she is comfortable in and which will be worn again. My Aunt adored DD2, and she would just have been delighted to see her - they shared a very dry sense of humour.

bigTillyMint Sat 13-Apr-13 14:23:39

Aww, MrsSsmile
What I wouldn't give to see my favourite auntie again. I still miss her so.

Watched a fab film called This is 40 on the flight back last night which, (although I am hurtling towards 50) was was so true and made me realise that the bickering/arguing, non-perfection etc on holiday was completely normal for families - it's just that I have no benchmark for normal family life smile

Blackduck Sat 13-Apr-13 14:39:34

Ahh typed loooong message only old thread not realising it was full!
Queenie I am in Kefalonia and the goats are not in trees, but are on the roof of cars, all over major mountainous, twisty roads and anywhere else they feel they would like to be grin
Dp is sunburnt, a very nice chemist gave me some trial size lotion for ds (he is allergic to lots of them and I failed to buy at the airport), this is a brand I have never heard of, but seems to be fine and he is rash free.
On the downside Greece is way more expensive than it was 15 odd years ago!

Ruby - hope doggy is okay.
BTM - welcome home!

rubyrubyruby Sat 13-Apr-13 14:55:17

Love the 2nd dress MI - but I can imagine you in red or jade green?

Welcome back bTM.

Got very excited at new house on the market today but searched up and it's only 3 bed.
DH has agreed to my plan smile

bigTillyMint Sat 13-Apr-13 14:59:42

I bet it is BDgrin (just realised it is 18 years since I went to Greece envy)

Ruby, I hope your doggy is OK too - is she old like us?!

bigTillyMint Sat 13-Apr-13 15:13:09

Well done with plan, ruby!

I also can imagine MI in jade or redsmile

motherinferior Sat 13-Apr-13 15:18:46

DP suggested redgrin would it be OK with my hair? Tends to wash me out.

Blackduck Sat 13-Apr-13 15:28:00

Oh BTM and on family dis harmony we have had the minimum of two major breakdowns a day. Today I pointed out to ds that there was no point bringing him away if he just wanted to sit in the hotel playing minecraft all day - cue meltdown. Doesn't help that dp goes out to wind ds up at every opportunity

Stropperella Sat 13-Apr-13 15:35:09

Love the new thread title grin

smile @ unruly goats. Glad you are having lovely weather, BD. In answer to your q on the other thread, we were teaching in Brunei - local schools as opposed to international. H was teaching secondary and I taught primary 3 and 4.

Good luck with the shopping,MrsS. I find shopping with dd puts my blood pressure up somewhat. She hates it so much.

Hope the vet can find a fix for your poor dog, Ruby.

Absolutely pouring with rain here. dcs have been banned from all electronica until they have finished golden-themed artwork for golden wedding party we are going to in a couple of weeks. There is much cutting, pasting, spraying and grumbling going on. It was probably unwise to let them have the gold spray paint.

bigTillyMint Sat 13-Apr-13 15:38:49

Hmm, think it depends on the shade of red MI - you will have to go on a shopping spree and experimentwink

BD, we were doing quite well then - we even had some days with no breakdownsgrin DS was a royal PITA - think it was/is the combination of puberty hitting and no mates to fool around with and DH's genes!

Stropperella Sat 13-Apr-13 15:39:19

Cannot get old thread open on my weedy netbook for some reason. I shall have to wait to view MI's dresses as dh is currently installing a new hard drive on my big computer.

bigTillyMint Sat 13-Apr-13 15:40:02

Having said that, he and DD were inseperable (and insufferable) 98% of the time - it's just the meltdowns can be explosive to say the least!

Stropperella Sat 13-Apr-13 15:41:18

Hey MI, if you can rock a red lipstick surely you could do the same with a dress in the right shade of red!

bigTillyMint Sat 13-Apr-13 15:43:30

Stropps, I want to go and do some volunteer teaching in a local school somewhere abroad (maybe Africa?) when I retire!

Re shopping with DC, DD and I are great together - it's just DH (and DS) who put the spanner in the works in Bangkok!

bigTillyMint Sat 13-Apr-13 15:44:02

Yes, Stropps, that's a good point re the red lipstick!

Stropperella Sat 13-Apr-13 15:59:35

BTM, we weren't volunteers, we were paid - much better salary than in the UK in h's case. I was getting a pretty reasonable salary given that I wasn't a qualified teacher at the time. I saved most of my salary and it enabled me to do a PGCE when I came back to the UK. We could have stayed out there for as long as we wanted as the contracts were on offer long-term but didn't fancy it.

bigTillyMint Sat 13-Apr-13 16:36:24

Oooh Stropps, getting paid? Even bettergrin

hattymattie Sat 13-Apr-13 17:56:07

Fabulous title Mrs S - makes us sound cool and trendy and red badge of courage for tackling H&M La Def' even on a Sunday.

I've collected DS from his week in Megève - he is exhausted! I've fed him, he's bathing right now and then it's Dr Who and bed!

MI - I also love second dress and I also typed this in old thread and was not allowed to post at thread had finished. Didn't dare start a new thread as could never have thought of such a good title as this one ^;

Stropperella Sat 13-Apr-13 20:23:12

Ha, BTM, he worked for cfbt and it wasn't a third-worldy type job ifykwim. He`d been a teacher for nearly 20 years already in the UK and elsewhere and was not the type to ever do it for free grin. I couldn't work for them at that point because of lack of quals and experience. (H had job offer and was preparing to move when I met him) I got my job after being in the country for 3 months.

CointreauVersial Sat 13-Apr-13 21:01:14

Aah, here you are. Excellent title, by the way.

MI, like the silver dress, but the black one is a little ordinaire for a Birthday Girl, possibly.

Cremolafoam Sat 13-Apr-13 22:12:16

Oh found y'all.
I love bien-être mrs S grin: generally buy the green one and bring it home. Makes you smell like a rather nice gin and tonic wink
I'm such a Monoprix whore. Particularly the one on boulevard st michel. I have some terrific bits of clothing from there.

MI
I like the silvery one ;it is very stylish but not sure if it will not look a bit wintery in Junewink the shape is lovely though.

Bd I spent my 18th birthday on a beach in Kefalonia . I slept on the beach with my two gay friends , drank ouzo and watched the shooting stars in the complete darkness with the cool water lapping at our feet.
We got off the ferry on a whim and didn't realise we were stuck there for a week as there was only one boat every 6 days!grin Happy times
