Have posted before but situation even more dire as I've put on a few more pounds just eaten a whole tub of Haagen haaz doesn't help.
I've got an event in 6 weeks and must lose a stone BUT still can't exercise due to horribly dodgy back.
Obviously giving up the vital nightly glass of wine will help but what to eat or what NOT to eat??
Thank you!

A lot of people recommend low carbing but I don't know how well it works because I haven't tried it myself

I can recommend the 5:2 diet two days a week you eat 500 calories then rest of the time a normal diet approx 2000 calories.

Buy the Paul McKenna weight loss CD and listen to it every night. You will lose weight without having to deprive yourself.

Jason Vale juice books.
They are fab. I lost a stone and half last year doing that, in quite a short space of time.

You need a juicer and blender though, but I just have cheap ones and they're fine.

I've been doing it again this week and have lost just over 4lbs quite easily.

A friend lost a stone in 10 days on the Commando Diet. It is seriously hardcore but does work. Only good if you like eggs though.

If you've got 6 weeks though, Slimming World is good, basically low fat, you will lose at least a couple of pounds a week on it (I lost nearly 2 stone in the first 6 weeks, but I had loads to lose!)

Someone I know lost 10lbs in a week on that Dukas (is that right?) diet where you just seem to eat loads of protein and no carbs.. They are eating chicken breasts all day.

Lunch - large salad and a tin of tuna/some smoked salmon
Dinner - large salad and a veg omelette with a bit of cheese on top.

No sugary drinks. Herbal tea only.

Boring but it works! Cutting out sugar and carbs is the best way to lose weight quickly IME.

Cambridge or lighter life will do that for you in one horrible week if you have £50.

Thanks for all the replies.
I've looked at the 5:2 diet but christ it looks tough!! eLR how much weight did you lose over what period of time?

I like Wildings suggestion as that's very manageable for me (could I have coffee instead of herbal tea?).

I've lost weight before just cal counting and eating less plus running every other day bit the lack of movement is stuffing things up this time round?

Just looked at the Commando diet, I love eggs and steak!!

Cut out carbs - very effective, and you'll feel so much better!!

Ok so to me the obvious carbs are bread, crackers, pasta, potatoes, rice, cous cous and similar. Any "hidden" ones I need to know about?

Harcombe is the way believe me. Tough to do a stone in that time but possible. Google it and there is a book.

Harcombe Phase One is for five days. Should lose you half a stone or more in that period. And then you can redo first phase (tough) or move to phase two for slower weight loss.

Or you could follow my Bootcamp rules? look at the tabs on the spreadsheet for the rules

Ten rules - easy. Just follow them and you will lose weight easily. In 6 weeks you could easily lose a stone. One Bootcamper lost 12lbs in her first week in the last Bootcamp!

And, most importantly, you will eat lovely food and not feel deprived or hungry. And you will still be able to drink wine after the first two weeks

Yep, coffee is fine! As long as you don't put sugar or loads of milk in it.

And by salad I don't just mean lettuce, cucumber, tomato - I normally include roasted peppers, a sprinkling of pine nuts, capers, red onions, celery, spinach... all sorts of things!

I definitely find it helps not having to think too much about menus.

myfitnesspal, you can select how much you want to lose per week and they will give you how many calories you can eat. I think it's possible to lose a stone in 6 weeks, it's really difficult but possible if you start NOW!

Another recommendation for Dukan/low carbing or the 5:2 diet. I lost a fair amount after my last pregnancy just doing Dukan. Grim, but effective.

I lost just over half a stone in the marine diet in a week, you can do it for 2 weeks at a time.

Report
LadyMountbatten · 13/04/2013 06:38
