What's with the trend for wearing tights as leggings???!!!

I have seen this far too much recently...young girls wearing thickish black tights instead of leggings...but the tights are not completely opaque so you can see absolutely everything... Is this irony or do they simply think its just the same as a pair of leggings?? The other day the girl in front of me was showing her bright pink knickers to everyone and it just looked awful....or am I simply turning into my Grandma?!!

No. I have seen it too and the cheap leggings thay show your knickers. I do not want to see peoples black polka dot and white knickers or their thong and sanitary towel

They're not tights - they're just what passes for leggings in cheap shops. Forgive them father for they know not what they do. Wink

It's horrible seeing someone else's pants when you're trying to do your shopping. Please girls, cover your bums. I don't want to be overcome with jealousy every time you pass because I have nowhere near the tiny bum that you have Envy

I think they don't realise. They look ok from the front so probably don't realise that over the bum where the material is more stretched its thinner and see through.

I saw a girl the other day in the offending see thru leggings. Her pants said 'juicy' across the bum. I wonder if it's deliberate you know Hmm

I've got some pants that say "glamour pussy" on them. Maybe I should invest in some cheap leggings. Grin

I saw a woman last summer in a crochet mini dress wearing a pink thong and nothing else. Her breasts were clearly visible. She had a great figure but had clearly taken the 'less is more' thing too far

It's horrible to look at and you can't actually avoid it when the person in front of you stops suddenly and bends over.

My husband is a huge fan of these "leggings" being worn at the gym for squats. Wink

I have seen this done with actual tights not cheap leggings. You can tell by the shorts type effect you get at the top of tights. Very strange.

I don't find it offensive, but I do wonder about it. You's have to be super ok about your body to do it. Even when a girl has a great figure it is super distracting (to both men and women, I think) and more revealing than a micro mini or super low cut top. It's just a trend, but seems to be synonymous with this current obsession with sexing everything up. There are male dominated websites devoted to sharing pis of women wearing them, so it gets kind of squicky, too. Personally I'd prefer to team them with a longer top, if only for balance. If I was the most gorgeous person on earth I would still prefer a bit of discretion, but then I was always a bit shy like that even when I was a teen.

This trend sees to have been going a few years now. And yes, its not great. I think thick black leggings on skinny 16 year olds is fine. But see through, cheap tight-like-effect ones..noooo! especially if the wearer is anything over size 10. I certainly wouldn't be approaching them and DD who is 15 and a size 10 only wears the thick ones after a teacher told her on a non-uniform day they were inappropriate and made her wear a school PE skirt (from lost property and way too big so knee length!) over the leggings for the day. She was mortified and learnt the lesson the hard way!! I had tried to tell her before!!

DD20 having been an avid legging wearing aged 16 is now definitely a hater of them apart from for gym workouts! They do seem to grow out of it/acquire some taste!
