goodmum123 · 15/03/2013 22:38

I'm about to start boot camp! I have much weight to lose and I'm size 38f (I think).
Could anyone please recommend a fabulous sports bra. Thank you x

I've just bought one from m&s in that size. Can't link as I'm on my phone but it's an extra high impact one with two clips at the back. It's seems really good. I use it for running and I'm breastfeeding too and I've had no boob trouble at all (no hurting or black eyes Grin)

Mine is the Freya Active Underwired (which from Bravissimo) and I'm very happy with it. Stays put, supports well without doing that horrible 'flattening' thing, it's super comfortable, and is actually remarkably easy to get on and off (something I haven't found with my previous sports bras, which have all been without an underwire). Can never remember my size - I think I'm a 32G or thereabouts.

No wait - I've got that completely wrong - the one I bought is the Panache Sports Bra. Ignore my comments about the Freya one, I don't think I even tried that one (got confused as all my regular bras are Freya)

Let's see if this link works: Panache Sports Bra

Minimal Bounce. Every time.

Look at Boobydoo online. They have allsorts, I bought an Enell which is excellent, although mine is black and I do look like a rather large seal in it, but nothing moves Grin

Shockabsorber - every time Grin.

I am a 34G and it's fab.

Could you make it to Bravissimo for a good fitting?? I went from a 36DD to a 34G after a visit with them and my bra buying has changed forever!

Sportjock for minimal bounce-age.

You will need 2 people to help get you in and out of it though - that's how good it is Wink

Have a look online for Enell - it's like modern Lycra-assisted binding. The sizing is their own system and it's not a crop-top, over-the-head jobbie but it's fiercely anti-bounce. I'm the teensiest size (00 which matches 30DD!) and wouldn't bother with it for general sports/gym stuff but it's superb for riding horses. My tits think they've been watching telly, my arse knows better. Would really recommend you find some Enell reviews from more endowed ladies. When figleaves had it their reviews were inspiring. They might even have got it back, I'm frugal/eBay-only at present so don't know.

Another vote for the Panache Sports Bra, it's fantastic!

I used to get the shock absorber then found one that looked very similar at primark - the high impact sports bra. It's better than the shock absorbers and about a third of the price. Keeps my norks in place when running - really grates on me when I see people running with boobs going up and down!! No need for it

Shock absorber running bra. Rather than the standard shock absorber.

I love the Panache and find it great for high impact and the Freya not so good, but I know others on the bra threads have the opposite experience. Enell is also brilliant but fugly. If you go for Shock Absorber be aware they come up small. Less Bounce is a great website with a wide range and reviews that tell you the size of the writer. Just ignore the size guide as they have Ye Olde Add 4 rules on there.

Come on over to the bra intervention thread if you want to check your size!

Another vote for Shock Absorber Run. I agree they come up small, I had to go up a back size.

Another vote here for Enell--fantastic for keeping the ladies in place while running.

I have just got this in black and leopard and its amazing. Im normally a 30FF or 30G, but I have this in 32F as M&S have weird sizing and its amazing

An amazing choice ladies, thank you so much. I think ill order the panache for starters and eventually visit bravissimo, although today I could pop into m and s today as there's one in town but doubt they'll have what I'm looking for,
Thank you again x

I had that M&S one - and it seemed great to start with but the stitching on the zip wasn't as strong as the rest of the bra so it fell apart!

I personally like the shock absorber max (bravissimo sell it, comes in a few colorus and looks crop top like from the front) or the underwired Freya.

I wear a shock absorber run bra for running. I have to go up a back size and down a cup size

Report
snoworneahva · 16/03/2013 12:38

I wear Enell too - they keep bounce to an absolute minimum. Good luck with bootcamp - it's hard but it works!

Report
EauRouge · 16/03/2013 12:42

I have a shock absorber too. I'm a 30GG and able to run a few miles without any discomfort- not from my chest anyway!

If you're unsure about your size then do get a proper fitting (I recommend Bravissimo), you could buy the best sports bra in the world and it would be no good if it was the wrong size.

Shock absorber running bra, but as others have said it is very tight in the band. Also bear in mind that - according to a fitter in Rigby and Peller - black will always come up smaller than other colours of the same bra (was deffo true of the sports bra!) Something to do with the dyeing process apparently.

YY to proper fitting, NOT at M&S.
