Business class flights - what to wear

Hi

I'm flying business class to Asia next month. I realise this makes me sound daft but is there an etiquette regarding what to wear? Ie can I get away with jeans? I'm presuming I can but don't want to turn up to find everyone else in suits and me looking like a slattern

Thanks

You can wear whatever you like. I wouldn't wear jeans though as they'll dig in, and you want to make the most of your comfy seat

When DH flew business to Shangai with Virgin they provided a onesie to sleep in and hung his suit for him to stop it creasing

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in - I tended to wear a couple of layers and bring my own socks (the ones they provide aren't much cop), as it does tend to vary madly between oven-like and fridge-like during the journey. (Mind you the constant drinks and snacks help with the cold too!). Grin

Actually, that's a point - Virgin Upper Class do provide PJ's - BA only provide sleep suits if you're travelling First.

Wear whatever you like - you already have the upgrade so no need to try!

Jeans not comfy on flights, so go for yoga pants/ leggings.

Definitely change into pjs if provided - then you can spill your food and sweat into them and change back into your clean-ish clothes before you land.

I'm flying with a colleague so I can guarantee I won't be wearing a onesie however comfy it is!

Another daft question, what do you wear if not a suit and not jeans? Do people really wear jogging bottoms/yoga pants? I'm genuinely very inexperienced in all of this

I wouldn't wear jeans....for flying anywhere.
I can't remember what I wore when I was bumped up but I enjoyed drinking champagne watching Shark TaleGrin
I'm thinking of this for next time.

If you are not expected to go direct to the office or a meeting, wear smarter yoga pants or black leggings with a comfy top...

If you are travelling with a colleague, make sure you check in on line do you don't have to sit next to him/her... I hate waking up with a creasy face next to someone I have to talk to in the office Grin

Don't fly long haul in heels that are tight fitting. Take then off and they will not go back on.
Wear jeans with Lycra if you insist in flying in jeans.
Take a top to change into once you are near your destination. Have a little wash whilst getting changed before landing.

What about linen trousers, top.and cardi.

Just wear what you will be comfortable in. They won't turn you away.

Never stopped me! Seriously, just keep bra and knickers on underneath and it's perfectly respectable.
I generally wore something relatively uncreasable (soft cord skinnies were a favourite), and would hang up any jackets or outerwear so it didn't look too slept in. There are generally good showering facilities in the business lounges too, so, if you are having to go straight to the office on arrival, it's worth checking what's available at the airport - even a ten minute freshen up and clothes change does wonders.

If I'm already in business class I wear what I want! Usually yoga pants and a waterfall cardigan or dkny cozy. Honestly, I can't remember seeing anyone in a suit in business class.

I always wear my most comfortable clothes so I can slob out in front of the TV in disturbed with lovely wine. So yoga pants, tunic top, cardigan, hair in bun, thick socks to put on in flight, pashmina...

Smart dark yoga pants, 3/4 length smart jacket, dark cardigan and smart t-shirt with ballet pumps are my flying uniform. Pashmina can be useful as well in case you get a bit cold at any point.

People only wear suits if they have rushed to the airport. Personally, for long haul I always have the 5 minutes to do a wonderwoman into my leggings and jersey tunic in the airport loos.

Sorry to interrupt....I would love to know where to get a good pashmina for flying, any suggestions?

I tend to travel in a jersey work wrap dress, eg Phase Eight etc. They are great because they are so comfy, bit like wearing a nightdress. I only discovered how comfy when I had to go straight from work to Asia on an overnight trip and didn't want to bother taking casual clothes.

Some people have meetings at either end so they tend to be in business gear. For everyone else it's smart casual.

One time I spotted a girl wearing jogging bottoms and flip flops but she looked like a fashion model so she was able to make that work but for us lesser mortals .... :)

For overnight flights I put on the huge jammie bottoms provided. I don't care what I look like I want to be comfy :-)
If they are not provided I would take a pair of leggings.
I usually change in the loo but you can discreetly change in your seat.
I would also take something warm to wear as it can be chilly.
You can shower in the airport lounge before you leave. I often do this as it relaxes me.

Which airline? I only ask as some give you stuff, some seats are beds and thus more sleep than snooze suitable and some airlines beds seats are more private
I often do Asia business class and almost always go for skinnie and comfy long like top with pumps, no laces, for airports- quick at security, then into loo ASAP on flight for vest and cotton jogger or leggings with light long sleeve top on keeping bra on so things don't get awkward Wink
Wipes and moisturizer a must pre sleep
Wipes moisturizer and make up a must post sleep!!
If you've not done business class before you'll love it best bit of my travels Wink
Always carry a spare top and underwear in bag incase case doesn't appear and you have to go straight to meting
Enjoy Asia its fab!

I have just got off a 12 hour flight - and just about to get on another one - I have jeans on, but I don't wear super skinny tight ones, always wear jeans on flights Blush
It depends who you are meeting at the other end - if you are being collected by your guests or going straight into a meeting it obviously needs to be half decent - otherwise yoga pants sound perfect!

MooseBeTimeForCoffee · 16/03/2013 02:00

I have one of these It's lovely and so much nicer than the blankets they give you, even in Business Class.

Business class travelers are the same as economy class travelers (except they usually have upgraded) on long haul. Nobody wears a suit on an overnight flight. I wear yoga pants and comfy soft shoes which I can wear socks under and I wear a short sleeved vest and a thin fleece top over that. I also carry a wrap in a bag. Layering is the key.

I used to fly regularly from Asia to the UK and when arriving in the winter just change into warmer clothes when I arrive in the airport (take in hand luggage)
