LadyFrannie · 24/02/2013 18:29

i have a big event on Saturday where the dreaded ex will be with new partner and despite making many style and beauty related new years resolutions, all have fallen by the wayside.

I need help with how to look and feel the beat I can in such a short space of time.

Currently feeling frumpy, fat and tired. Want to feel fabulous, confident and glossy.

Can anyone help with tips?

Ok so you need to think positive .. You are going to look great on the night

If it was me I would book in at the hairdresser - do you need a cut .. Dye .. Or just a blowdry ?
Also eyebrow threading
Manicure and pedi if needed

Do you have something in your wardrobe already that you could wear ?
If you re feeling a bit flabbybhow about some control underwear like spanx ?

Treat yourself to some amazing shoes and earrings perhaps ?

In your shoes and providing I could afford it I would book a mani, pedi and a blow dry (or full cut/colour depending what state your hair is in) and buy some great underwear and a fabulous outfit to ensure I was looking and feeling at my most amazing!!!

Oh and maybe a fake tan as well? I always feel better with a bit of colour.

Hmmm well don't need cut but very dry, hoping to get blow dry to pin up. Maybe get a treatment too?

Have opted for tried and tested ghost dress so spanx will def be needed thanks for reminder!!

Am open to fabulous shoe ideas for a size 42 (huge I know!) as that will def make me more confident!!

What length spanx do people prefer, is there much difference in the knickers to whole body sucker inners?

Low carbing for 1/2 days immediately prior will make a difference if you want to look more streamlined. Clarins beauty flash. And a blow dry.

Water only from now to then and as much sleep as possible.

Water only to drink I mean- don't starve!

Go for the full body spanx, the knickers always leave me with strange bulgy bits elsewhere!

I have one like a dress with integral bra, so sucked in from bust to a few inches above the knee, gives a lovely streamlined look (M&S about thirty quid, fabulous investment)

Hi. If I was you....

Exercise: Tracy anderson's mat workout is brilliant, will definitely improve your posture even in just a few days and will make you feel stronger and taller. And you don't have to buy anything, the segments of the workout are on YouTube.

Skin: body brush twice a day and smother yourself in moisturiser. Likewise with face, exfoliate, lots of moisturiser.

Drink loads of water.

Yes yes yes to getting your hair, nails and maybe eyebrows done as well.

Spanx: I have the high waist to mid thigh ones and they're brilliant.

I've not done low carbing ever, but actually if I'm a bit worried or excited my appetite disappears so maybe I've done it inadvertently before something big. I find it definitely helps if you're not bloated, so eating lightly and drinking water will make the spanx work better iyswim.

Have you seen ex very often recently? I have a thing coming up where I'm seeing mine, and need to take my own advice a bit I think! My aim is to look effortlessly fabulous and glide around being super calm and radiating awesomeness..... Grin

Hth xxx

Get you lashes done, you can get them curled or extensions. The extensions look fabulous without looking TOWIE.

Spanx up to the bra line are best imo.

Oh sweetie. I've had 2 years to get my head around it. At the very recent stage I would have faked my own death to avoid seeing him so extreme kudos to you for going to it.

You will be awesome Smile

Keep us up to date with the progress. Water. Exercise. Internal mantra: I am amazing, I am amazing, I am amazing..... Xxx

Oh goodness me, I read your post about shoe size as it being your clothing size. I was like '42? FORTY TWO?' So reassure yourself that even if you are 'fat and frumpy' (which I doubt) at least you aren't clothed in a size 42. Maybe the new gf is though?

What kind of shoes are you looking for? Have you looked here? These are nice.

I agree, water is the best thing you can do.

I hope it goes well for you. I'm seeing DP's ex at the weekend too, kind of the opposite to you. Still dreading it though. They broke up three years ago - no kids, not married or living together, together one year, she dumped him - and we've been together two, but when I met her once before her response to 'excuse me, would you mind passing the water jug?' was 'fuck off' and then later in the night she lay in the road - the actual ROAD - weeping because she missed him and I was a bitch to her and had stolen her friends. (Literally all I ever said to her was 'hello nice to meet you' and 'please pass the water'.) So I'm not much looking forward to seeing her again. I'm sure you'll be much more dignified and fabulous than that! Anyway, my long-winded point was, don't worry too much, because everyone will notice how you behave so much more than what you look like, and if you're calm and pleasant it will be worth a million fancy dresses. I haven't the faintest idea what DP's ex wore that night, but everyone who was there remembers her behaviour. Besides, I'm sure you'll look fab anyway. Do you have a link to your dress? Smile

a 42 is a 12 isn't it? not that enormous?

Report
Mitchy1nge · 24/02/2013 20:23

maybe a 14 at most

In American sizing it's the same as a UK 12. I was thinking of a UK 42.

If I need to be glowing of face I drink the water, and eat a lot of citrus (also has cleansing benefits in the other way if you get my drift), but do eat properly otherwise you'll be all wan and faint and pale and potentially spotty!

Spend time doing your make up.

I'd be less worried about a pedi and moisturising my body in this weather TBH (unless you're planning to jump him in which case go for it).

Mitchy1nge · 24/02/2013 20:32

Lots of water and moisturiser and sleep.

When I'm going on a night out etc I tend to spend the whole day slobbing it in my pjs with my hair shoved back and no make up so when I do get dressed/do makeup/do hair I feel amazing

Is there a blink eyebrow bar near you? If so, do go, having your eyebrows threaded by them is like having a facelift, it makes an anazing dufference to your face.

Why don't you take the dress with you and show it's colours to the ladies at a bobbi brown makeup counter and get some makeup ideas? Have a makeover while you are there too.

I saw my ex in 2007 after I was happily married for 6 years. He was there at an event with his pregnant wife (while I was TTC for years) but my new fabulous perfume, black elegant dress, blow dry and smoky MAC eyes made me feel great. (It stung like hell seeing the pregnant wife but knowing I looked great softened the blow).

Good luck xxx

How about going for a facial tomorrow? Or doing one at home.
Also get some gorgeous new undies, they'll, make you feel more confident.
Cut out the carbs after 3pm.
Do a deep hair treatment on Thursday.
Manicure and pedicure on Friday.
Wax/shave everything.
Eyebrow pluck!
Do a zit rain dance so the new girl gets a big boil zit on the end of her nose

You are going to look so hot ;)

Sleep

Water

And this one is hard but go carb free, for me this is guaranteed to transform how I look within 3-4 days. Any bloating is gone, and my face looks so much brighter and younger, cheekbones stand out, eyes look bigger and younger.
