where do you buy your vests?

I'm pretty tall (5'9) and have a hard time finding layering vests that are long enough and wash well. any recs?

have had some success in H&M but am willing to pay a bit more if they last and fit well. primark aren't long enough for me. I like a high cotton content but haven't got on well with 100% cotton as they tend to bag too much during the day (grrr malene birger, am looking at you).

i just want basic colours - charcoal, black, white ideally. poss blush too.

thanks!

I know the ones from Miss Selfridge are very long.

They are a little transparent though in the lighter colours, but they're only two for £12 (I think).

They do stretch slightly though, so I'd recommend getting one size down.

I got some long ones in Matalan

I'm about 5ft 6 and they come just past my bum

I second esprit.co.uk
The basic long vests are 12 quid and come in a variety of colours. small amount of elastane to keep shape. I wear one most days.

Sainsburys. They can almost come down to my knees with a little help. I am 5ft 3 ....... Cheap as chips and good quality, I was most surprised. I buy some every time I'm in a big Sainsburys. Luckily don't have one near enough for grocery shopping .......

I've tried various ones and always go back to H&M, they wash and wear so well you just can't beat them IMO

I really rate the Miss Selfridge ones too (2 for £12). They're really great for layering as they're so long, but as binks says, go one size down as the ribbing makes them pretty stretchy.

I bought mine when longline vests were in a few summers ago. I bought about ten and looked after then. They're not longline on me. Grin

Next do vests in their tall range which is for 5ft10 and over?

Baukjen. Viscose and elastane so not cotton but the basic length is longish- I am 5"6ish. They do have an extra long also. Wash brilliantly, don't bag or ride up. Love them.

Having this problem too, im 5'6 but obviously long bodied, i bought H&M ones and they were rubbish not long enough and thin material, i bought one from river island long and covered bum but after wearing half an hour the neckline dropped to below my chest! think i will try matalans next

thanks everyone, lots of suggestions for me to look through!

the espirit ones look good, I might try to go and try some on this weekend

i can't find the baukjen extra long ones, theweek, only standard length which I don't think will be long enough for me? can you find them on their website, am I being dim?

I found these which look the perfect shape but the material is putting me off - 95% viscose is surely going to be too sweaty for summer?

thanks again everyone, appreciate the advice

I second Primark...they are very long. Bought a few the other day that cover my bum when pulled down. Great quality too, considering they are £2.50!

Have you washed them yet Jolie? I usually find you can tell a true Primark bargain after the first wash! GrinGrin

I've gone for gap maternity vests even though no longer pregnant they are long.

Thought you were going to be talking about hideous thermal granny vests and I was about to jump in with 'ShockShock YOU WEAR VESTS??? OMG HOW OLD ARE YOU???'

Layering vests I have are from French Connection (long and v stretchy) and Next (basic and cheap but ok quality).

Esprit online do free returns :)

Report
foxysocks · 21/02/2013 13:37

haha callisto! tbh in this weather I enjoy them as much for the thermal properties as the layering look.

right, am going to order some from espirit and see how I get on. ALL online retailers should do free delivery and free returns, tis the Right and Proper way.

Another for sainsburys
I'm 5 11 and they fit well and wash well
You do do have to make sure you get the long ones though

I can't see the Sainsburys ones online, is it in the store only?
