Time to call in some bra favours!

Ok, Florida in 5 weeks and I have no swimwear. I would really like a new bikini. Preferable 50s style, halterneck, underwired (needs to be for these 30G/GGs) and big pants (size 12) (although will consider tie sides).

I've seen this on Bravissimo but it's a bit meh.

this? I prefer your first one though.

Have a look a Freya Swim, they have the nicest designs out of the proper bra size swimwear manufacturers.

Pond. I prefer your first link but sadly it doesn't go up to a G cup.

Thanks both. I had a look at the Freya site but nothing really grabbed my eye (maybe they look better on?). I don't get on with plunge styles and actually got rid of all my Freya bras as they just don't seem to fit me that well.

I think I have a picture in my head of a very 50s style bikini with wide halter neck straps (not those string things that cut in!) which probably doesn't exist!

Off to town now so will have a look in Debenhams and HoF (there aren't any other decent shops).

This Freya one is nice, not sure about the colour though.

I'm sure it must exist. I've definitely seem them before. Good luck in town!

Huh, well that was pants! Nothing in Debenhams smaller than a 32 back or bigger than an F. HoF haven't got their swimwear in yet. Back to the Internet.

Boux Avenue go up to a 30G but not a GG (the description is misleading on this bikini as when you click through to the sizes it is availble with a 30 back).

Quite a few nice ones on here, not tried the brand before though so not sure on the fit.

LittlePandaBear Ooh, I like that! There isn't a branch anywhere near me so I think I will order a 30G and a 32G as I've heard that they come up small in the back. Not totally bowled over by the pants. Boy shorts are a no no with my thighs and although I don't mind wearing an itsy bitsy pair of side tie bottoms, my DSC would probably rather I didn't!

ComeAlongPond I love this but it doesn't come in my size.

shopafrolic I know it ticks the boxes but.... I don't like it Sad, sorry. I think it's the plunge plus the frill. Ahh, no matching pants available anyway.

How frustrating, I'm sure I've seen one so similar but I can't for the life of me remember where. I'll try to think.

Oh god, I love this. Look at the price though! It comes in a 32F which I could possibly squeeze these babies into with a shoehorn

Just watch the halter neck bikinis. Having that kind of weight on your neck can hurt after a while!

Have had good experiences with bravissimo bikinis. Would recommend underwires for a better shape.

have you tried Curvy Kate?

Report
SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 18:06

I only ever wear underwired Grin. The Curvy Kate one is nice but I always think that the bra shape tops just make me look like I'm walking around in my underwear! I think Halter necks are much more flattering and help balance my hips and shoulders.

I really can't wear plunge styles. I need a balcony shape with halter staps that come from the side of the cups.

I've emailed a lady via Etsy who makes vintage style bikinis up to a DD and asked if she'll make a G!
