Shaved on one side hairstyle

Ok I'm thinking that maybe I want to do this before I get too old and mutton for trendy hairstyles like this.

I have long shoulder length layered blonde hair, which side do you decide to do it on for a start and has anyone had this done and regretted it ?

I had an undercut back in the day so I kind of know what I'm letting myself in for in terms of growing it out and maintenance.

Does anyone have any advice for success of words of warning !!!
Cheers

If you like it, then go for it. I think it's a particularly ugly hairstyle, TBH, but I'm probably just old!

I like Ellie Goulding's shaved bit, looks fab on her.

My sister did it, looked like she'd had surgery and theyd shaved a patch.

Oh no palehousewife ! Did she like it or she agree ?

I'm thinking maybe my lifestyle isn't rock and roll enough to carry it off

I really like it. My style is pretty grungy rock chick so I think a bit different to the other posters on here but I've considered it myself before, the only reason I didn't is that my friend did it and we'd look a bit weird with the same 'statement' hair! If you're worries then go for an Ellie Goulding type 'patch'? link

If you want a slightly less obvious option, I have (ahem) an undercut at the back. It's actually because my hair is really thick and it stops my short bob having a wedge at the back, but sometimes I slick it in place so the undercut is showing.

Ooh that's cute I like that Taco, I like her natural hair colour too

I am a bit grungy but flip over into floral dresses I think it will give my look that edge

Plus I'm working for myself so don't have to look smart

I have an Ellie goulding type patch. I did have a more severe undercut which formed a v at the back and went to above my ears at the front. Its mostly grown out but the patch I put in when I got frustrated by the hair which would never grow long enough to tie back. If you leave it shaggy rather than razor bald say it won't show unless you want to show it off.

Oh my sister loved it for about four weeks... Now its looks weird as it grows out

I think it really does depend on whether you mix with people who would 'get it' ,or whether you would feel you need to conceal it all the time because otherwise you'd spend all your time explaining yourself to them/them looking at you like you've lost it.
[speak from bitter experience....]

i quite like it - but as I dye my hair it would be too different and give away my natural hair colour. Plus my head shape is odd.

I have this hairstyle (albeit shorter) and love it. Wish I'd done it sooner. Although will have to change the blonde now that Kerry bloody Katona has the exact same style Angry I am trying to grow the long side longer - adore Alice Dellal!

It's not for everyone, but I have always been quite adventurous with my hair (not full on punk, but not precious about hair either). Even shaved my whole head once. It was fab. I would do it now, but I don't have the figure for it (It can make you look quite butch if you have any extra flab). I hate dull hair.

Am thinking of going mossy green.. before I get too old for it, and before DS is in school (so he won't be the one with the green haired mum). Or grey. Do it OP!

I went from very long to a 'frankie Sanford' style and I loved it. Maybe that's daring enough at first and then you could decide to shave one side from there?

Oh do you know what I'm going to do it ! There is a hairdresser in town and she has it, she looks gorgeous so maybe she can make me look gorgeous too !

I think my hair could be layered up to help grow it out maybe if I get bored, I do get bored with my hair

I had shaved my hair when i was 16 and got in so much trouble with my mum, i shaved it and then dyed the stubble purple, totally gross. I worked as a waitress and used to hide it, but when I had it I totally loved it andDp said he would be into it.

As for my friends they aren't into my style but I think that they will get it, my style isn't for everyone. I live in a village and they're pretty open minded round here

I used to have something like this, without dreads and freshly shaved, and with dreads and growing out

I loved it, tempted to go back to it. I found that when I decided to grow it out the best thing to do was to let it grow out then cut it into a pixie cut/bob.

It's a cut that looks best when really over the top, like this, this, this and this.
