Good deodorants (not anti-perspirants)?

I found Pitrock and Toms of Maine to be ineffective.
By far the best deodorant I have used is Aubrey's Northwoods Herbal Pine Deodorant. The scent lasts all day and is not overly masculine. I would not use anything else. Some decent healthfood shops stock it otherwise you can get it online.www.aubreyorganicsuk.co.uk
I have also used Dr.Hauschka roll on.It comes in two scents Floral and Fresh. It costs £11.95 for 50ml.
Lavera's deodorants are good and come in a variety of scents.Roll on is £8.95 and spray £9.95.www.Soorganic.com

Another vote for Pitrok. It really does work.

was just about to express my disappointment in pitrock. made me feel sweaty and uncomfortable! thanks hopefully, maybe i didn't give it enough of a chance!

I use pitrok and love it. I actually sweat less, and am less uncomfortable (sticky) than I am with anti-perspirant.

Be warned, it seems to take most people a week or two to adjust to something like pitrok - it can all feel a bit sweaty at first. But it does improve x1,000 in a week or two.

Another vote for Toms here. I've been using it for a couple of years. I did try Pitrok. I forget why I stopped but I didn't like it for some reason.

I still use an anti-perspirant on days when I'm likely to get nervous (like giving a presentation or an exam) but otherwise have had no problem with Toms.

The scares about breast cancer and ammonium chloride convinced me. And blocking pores can't be a good thing.

I've been using Toms of Maine (unscented) for a few years and I think it's really good, and has better deodorising properties than the anti-perspirant I used to use. I buy it in Sainsburys and have a recollection that I didn't see it in Boots the last time I looked, so I don't know how widely available it is.

Oooh bettybleep, stinky Pitrok does not sound fun!

I apply mine in the bedroom and leave it to air dry before replacing the cap so have not yet smashed it or noticed any smell.

The scented roll-on version does seem fairly free of these problems, so that still might be a good starting point.

It took me about a week to get used to having some sweat come out and not panic about smell, but these salt/mineral products really do stop any smell.

Whichever brand you use, be smug in the knowledge that they must be better than blocking your pores with aluminium chloride. grin

I've been impressed with Crystal mineral salt protection roll-on.. I think I got it in Boots.

I have been pleased with Lush deodorant bars, and with Toms of Maine.

I thought Pitrok was fantastic, but it smashes very easily if you drop it, and also I found that the rock itself started to smell awful after a while, even though I was very careful about only using it on freshly washed skin. I tried several times and always ended up throwing it out when I'd only used about a third of it.

I am a rather sweaty person too FYI blush

Pitrok is amazing! Much better than those messy things at Lush. They sell Pitrok in Boots and Superdrug and it seriously stops any smells at all. I have the unscented stick which lasts for ages and also the roll-on for travel. I've had no ingrown hairs or armpit irritation since I started using it.

Toms of maine, sorry.

I use Tom maines, they are natural with no nasties. I get mine from Amazon, the calendula one is beautiful, and it lasts all day.

Can anyone recommend a natural-style deodorant that works? Not an anti-perspirant that stops sweating, but one that prevents the stink.
