What do you wear when you're 35??!!!

It's suddenly dawned on me that I have no style sense (and never had). I'm now 35 and want a 'look'. I tend to wear jeans with everything because it takes less effort/thought. I still sometimes think I look like an ageing student as my style hasn't really changed.I'm tall, size 10/12 (but not toned or fit looking- have 2 young children) and am clueless!

I wore the same things I wore when I was 34. Sorry, I realise that does not help you very much!

Try and find a celebrity whose look you like for ideas. I have dc2 on way and just turned 36. I really like the chic/simple look. Some of my staples are:
Casual
Breton tops
Boat neck tops
Navy cardi
Black cardi
Grey cardi
Well fitted jeans in dark colours
Tan boots
Camper trainers
Good accessories
Navy trench coat
Couple of nice bags

Work
Smart shift/jersey dresses
Black skirt and top with smart/casual fitted jacket
Ankle boots
Smart flat shoes
Kitten heel
Good quality tights
Smart bag
Smart coat

I always try to buy in sale and only buy things that I feel good in. If I get that 'I'm not sure' feeling I walk away. We sound similar size, you can get away with a lot if you choose right colours and fit. Just don't be led by latest fad and go for a classic style made unique with accessories.

That's my tips anyways Grin

Whatever you like
Whatever suits you
Whatever you can afford

And stop worrying about age

Oh and I'm older than you, not that that matters in the slightest.

You sound like me:-)

I'm 35 too, but more so, clueless about clothes!

I live in white stuff leggings and tunic tops, to cover my post baby tummy, which is now flatter so probably not as necessary

I rarely shop and when I do its joules, boden or white stuff. I think I'm pretty boring!

I can always find tops that I like but not any bottoms, and then I have no idea what shoes to wear. I can rarely be bothered to accessorise as life is just too busy nnormally, not today though ;)

My DH says that I dress like a middle aged lady!

If you can afford to buy a few things at once why not try a personal styling session at a department store or a shop that you like? I had one at Banana Republic a while back & they brought me things I never thought I would wear & they looked good. I didn't feel pressured to buy & a lot of the stuff was in the sale as they didn't just bring me new season stuff. I got some skinny chinos for a tenner for example!!

I'm 35 on ML with DS2. I dress much the way I did at 15, but now I'm a lot thinner and the clothes are slightly better quality, and the bras fit properly. Skinny jeans (were boot leg) or leggings, with flat biker type boots or trainers (used to wear docs). Layers of t shirts and hoodies. Occasional maxi or knee length dress / skirt in warmer weather.

That's how I got into dresses :). I used to be a jeans, t-shirt and dr marten's, really long hair no make-up.
Then I realised that if I just throw a dress on the problem dissapears.
Long necklaces etc are fun, but a pain when you're constantly bending over potties and snotty noses. So I acumulated a few necklaces that frame my face but are crazy enough to liven up my black/taupe/navy dresses. I dress very plainly.
For the summer I have a few dresses, one pair of flat tan sandals and a tan leather slouch bag, two pairs of linen trousers to match a few boden t-shirts, two cashmere cardigans and a jersey blazer thingy. I also have a long, white linen shirt, I wear it with vests and linen trousers.
I found that a big, dangly pearl earring really brightens up my face, but if I wear a necklace I can't wear dangly earrings, my face is too small.
I also looked for ages for a lipstick that I can just put on and it would add a bit of colour to my face, found a mac one. I can rarely achieve a polished look just by putting my everyday clothes on, so sundays very very early in the morning, when the DD is allowed to watch telly, I put a face mask on, do my nails.
I also wear perfume even if I am at home, just a tiny bit, moisturise and apply a bit of mascara for myself.
