If you have short hair....

Do you have to wear more make up? I am soooooooooooooooo sick of de-nitting my hair, or even getting it because of my long hair from my kids, I am ready to cut it all off. But I am far too lazy to put on full slap every morning. I am a mascara and touche eclat kind of girl.

I don't bother. I had my long hair cut short a few months ago and I really like it. Much easier to look after.

Gigondas · 07/02/2013 14:11

You can get nits in short hair too.

I don't follow about why you need to wear more make up unless you favour a hide your face with hair look.

carrie74 · 07/02/2013 14:12

I only wear make-up when I have the time and inclination, which isn't often. My face is still my face, whether I have short, cheekbone-defining hair, or lank, straight longer hair.

mejon · 07/02/2013 14:13

I've always had short hair but have never worn make-up. I'm no help to you Grin.

joliejolie · 07/02/2013 14:14

I always make sure I wear eye make-up and some colour on my lips. That's it really and I have a very short crop.

luckywinner · 07/02/2013 14:19

I know I can get nits in short hair, but it would take so much less time to de-nit it. I suppose the make up thing is because you have nothing to hide behind. You have good hair, but you look tired. So do people see the lovely hair and not the puffy eyes and crap skin?!!

Mejon, it is good to hear that you don't wear make up. I am so super lazy in the morning.

Another random question that will probably get shouted at, but do you have to wear more skirts/dresses? I had short hair when I was 20ish and I always felt a little bit less glam than my friends with long hair. Stupid I know.

I have pixie hair and wear no or v little make up.

I do focus more on looking after my skin - a long term approach as I dot want to have to cover up crows feet etc with a fringe. :)

I don't wear skirts/ dresses much at all, but then I have a fairly girly face so I don't feel that masculin iyswim.
I do wear hats all the time in the winter - jammed down over my ears as I am v prone to earache when I have short hair! Shock

NoelHeadbands · 07/02/2013 18:33

I look like an extra from Oliver! with no make up and short hair, so yes in my case

JoyceDivision · 07/02/2013 21:23

No. Have pixie ct, wear no make up, raraely bother with hair.

Live in boyfriend or skinny jeans.

Dh prefers me to look like that as he knows I'm happier that way, i am a natural scruff Grin

I don't get the 'long hair gives you somthing to hide behind' ethos, I mean, what do you do with it, walk round like cousin It if you're having a bad day?

RoomForASmallOne · 07/02/2013 21:28

I used to have a more dramatic look clothes and make up wise when I had short hair so I see what you mean OP

Only because I thought it suited me and I was comfortable with it iyswim??

I admired people who could pull off the pixie, no make up look but don't think I was one.

ivykaty44 · 07/02/2013 21:38

I have short cut, above ears and cropped at the back. I get my eyebrows dyed as they are very very blonde and shaped, I also get my eyelashes tinted. This done every six weeks is my method to lazy no make up but still look ok.

Don't forget short hair will often leave you with bed head, so I wash mine every day in the shower, that said I take ten mins to shower and blow dry my hair and dress each day, as short hair cut well doesn't take long to blow dry and look good

browneyedpixie · 07/02/2013 21:40

Nah not especially.
I have a pixie crop, always wear at least foundation, blush and mascara min! Most days I have eyeliner and lippy Grin

browneyedpixie · 07/02/2013 21:41

I rarely wear dresses unless its sunny and warm!

browneyedpixie · 07/02/2013 21:42

I MUST do my eyebrows MUST!!

BackforGood · 07/02/2013 21:46

Don't follow your thinking at all Confused

Love from a short - haired, non make-up wearing MNer Wink

Foggles · 07/02/2013 21:46

I have longish hair now but have had a pixie cut in the past.

I found I wore less make up with short hair because my features were already more visible and didn't need defining quite so much.

Tanktop · 07/02/2013 22:00

I Have a very short pixie cut and wear the same daytime make up I Wore when hair was long. must admit do tend to go heavier on the eye make up when I go for a night out. Love the 60s Twiggy look. I always feel the need to wear earring when hair is short.

ivykaty44 · 07/02/2013 22:10

I don't wear earrings ever

I used to with long hair, but my ears are nearly un pierced now as I haven't worn earrings in twenty years

fooolofbeans · 08/02/2013 00:56

my hair is short and i do wear make up most days, but did when it was long.
now its short though i feel much more attractive as i feel a good short cut reallly emphasises your features and thus can reduce the need for make up.

but i do get the feeling less glam and wanted to off set that with more make-up/earrings/girly dresses etc, i felt that when i first chopped my hair, but now its just me, so dont feel the need to let everyone know i'm still a girl despite having short hair

just had a big glass of wine no idea if that makes sense Blush

ps short hair is V empowering IMHO

starsandunicorns · 08/02/2013 01:02

MarjorieAntrobus · 08/02/2013 01:08

I have short hair, that I wash every morning in the shower.

I don't wear makeup. I really don't understand the idea that one might hide behind make-up.

I always wear dresses (but I live in a hot climate).

FiercePanda · 08/02/2013 01:14

I miss having cute short hair.

I'm growing mine out because DP and I are getting married in the next couple of years, and I think I want long hair so I can have something beautiful done to it...

...typing that out I realise it makes no sense even to me. I might need a restyle.
