Arghhh-skinny jeans for slim legs!?

I am a 12-14 (which is probably the problem!). I think my bottom is a 14 but my legs are a 12! I have so many pairs of skinny jeans and none of them fit properly-they are either too big from the knee down or seem to fit ok and then within an hour go hugely baggy around the knees. I have tried

Primark-not bad, but the waist bags after a while and they need hoiking up all the time
Top Shop Baxters-look good in the shop and aren't too low waisted, but have baggy knees within the hour
New look-not v skinny
Gap premium super skinny-the best so far, but are only good straight from the washing machine for a few hours
M+S jeggings-ok, but not tight round the knees like I want
Zara (my latest ones-£20 from Ebay and they are more of a slim fit than skinny-grrr)

Where else to try!?

Have you tried Gap legging jeans? I have a pair and no bagging at all. The other ones that might be ok are DP super skinny jeans (very soft too).

Have a similar problem- chicken legs! Find gap always skinny the best as seem to hold their shape. I have m and s jegging but they look more like slim fitting trousers on me!!

Have you tried topshop Leigh's? I have the same problem and swear by these - they are v tight and stay tight!

Agree that Topshop Leighs are a good bet. Also French Connection, Here are very good.

You might find that if you size down, but look for a higher rise, that they fit better. Topshop Kirsten's might also be worth a look.

I also am think of leg.
Topshop leighs though are SPRAY ON, almost like tights. Kind of a bit weird tbh

Thank you for the suggestions-I will be going shopping tomorrow!

I've just double-checked the Top Shop jeans I already have and they are Jamie-not Baxters. What's the difference between them all and are Leighs more like leggings?

I like the sound of the Gap Always Skinny or the Gap legging jeans but can't find them-do GAP not sell online in the UK?

Super skinny legs here
I wear sainsbury jeggings in a 12 as they have a stretchy waist.
And I got a grea pair in marks cheap as chips which are high rise and skinny legs. Just jeans not indigo or autograph. Were under £20. And mid dark denim.

I'm a 12 with skinny legs and gone through buying so many useless pairs of skinnies that go baggy within an hour.

I just bought some super soft skinnies from new look in size smaller than normal and they have stayed good

Sainburys jeggings!

Report
letseatgrandma · 28/01/2013 19:31

Really-do Sainsburys jeggings look like proper jeans? Do they not give you 'legging knees'?!! Maybe I will have to try those if they're not too expensive; I'm sick of spending £30 + on crap jeans! What's the sizing like?

To the poster who said try new look ones-I've got some that aren't great BUT I haven't tried going down a size-maybe that's the way forward?! I don't like things cutting in at the waist though so I hope they're stretchy!!

Get a higher waist a size smaller and look for a super skinny fit not a skinny fit.

Yes-all the ones I've bought have been super skinny-I will try the smaller size though!

I am currently wearing my new Sainsbos jeggings in khaki. I wore them for the first time today and was asked by my much younger colleagues if they were from River Island. They cost me £12.50 Grin

I have a belly but slim hips and very long skinny legs. They're a size 10 and are generous enough in the waist for my flab, if you're more reasonably proportioned you may be able to wear a size smaller than usual. And no, they're not bagging at the knees.

Alrighty then!

Thank you so much for all your posts! I have been shopping! I have bought a pair of size 12 Dorothy Perkins skinny jeans in indigo and a pair of Sainsburys blue (quite a mid/light/bright blue) in a 12. Both fit well so far and there is no knee baggage as yet.

My mum also dug me out a pair of Gap super skinnys in a size 10 which she bought before Christmas and hasn't worn. She didn't like them as they were too low rise for her (I don't think they are low rise at all actually), but I've been wearing them all day and they are fab, too! They are pretty skin tight round the knees thus far which is good, but I certainly don't look like a fat girl wearing a pair of jeans that are too small. (Well, I shall ask DH if that opinion of myself is true later!!)

So-three pairs down and I shall feedback in a few days when I see how they cope with my knees ;)

I now have a pair of barely worn Top Shop Jamies (14) and M+S 5 pocket indigo wash jeans (12) to sell!!

For next time, also try Allsaints, definitely designed for skinny legs, I couldn't get my leg in a pair which were the right waist size the other day Hmm

Ah same size as me - 14 waist/arse and 12 legs! Such a pain especially with jeans/jeggings that go baggy at knees.
I bought these from M&S at the weekend. Not that cheap but my last Limited Collection pair are still going strong 4 years later with not a hint of baggyness. I bought a 14 as they are super skinny on the legs. Also bought their jeggings in a 12 (and strangely in a long I'm 5'6"). Very soft, but yet to wear so cant comment on stretch!

Ooh, now then!! I really like the look and reviews of the marks limited collection ones. Are they are spray on looking as they appear in the picture? I also like the look of the super stretchy sculptured ones by limited collection!!

Too many pairs of jeans-not enough money!!

Typical- they haven't got the sculpting ones in stock in a 12 regular!

I've just noticed the ones you linked to, are cropped. Can you possibly tell me how long the inside leg is?

Hi. They do look a bit cropped dont they? I'm 5'6" and they are at the ankle on me (no wrinkles). I would usually take a 30" inside leg jeans if wearing with flats - think skinnies are a bit shorter. Try a 14 - they are very tight!

Report
letseatgrandma · 29/01/2013 19:31

It says they are cropped in the description. I'm 5 3 so they may be ok!!

letseatgrandma Great news about the DP and Gap jeans.

Report
letseatgrandma · 03/02/2013 22:33

Right-my verdict...!

The Gap jeans (size 10) look great but are pretty tight so aren't terribly comfortable. I wore them all day, but they weren't supersoft!

The Sainsbos jeggings (size 12) were v comfortable and lovely around the knees-no knee baggage! The only problem I had with them is that jeans somehow have a bit of a corset effect to them around the stomach and hold you in; these don't. When wearing a tightist jumper dress-I did unfortunately look about 3 months pregnant (and my tummy isn't big-they're just not terribly flattering with certain tops.) My mum suggested special knickers to hold it all in, but maybe I just need to eat less biscuits!

But (drum roll) the winner of the 'my bum is bigger than my legs' skinny jeans competition is that Dorothy Perkins skinny jeans. They hold your stomach in, are a gorgeous colour, feel like leggings and are tight around the knees. I haven't taken them off since I got them (except in bed!) and I adore them. They are far better than the bloody £40 Top Shop and Gap ones that I am now selling ;)

Not sure if anyone is still interested in my lengthy saga but just thought I'd update as it might help someone out there!!

Hollister jeggings - they actually are pretty much jeans and have pockets etc and feel and look like proper denim - only jeans that have ever fit me properly - always find crotch is too long or bottom part is too baggy - these are perfect and very stretchy in the places they need to be!
