No one says this in rl. They say "a stripey t shirt " fgs
Same with 'crisp white shirt' - makes me stabby.
Also "a slim trouser" and "sourcing a piece", rather than buying something FGS

I find Breton tops make me feel stabby whether or not anyone talks about them. Not sure what it is about them that annoys me so.

You see 'stabby' annoys me - its one step away from 'squee'
Maureen, I think you might feel more comfortable somewhere else.
This used to be a friendly and supportive place.
Why spend time here if everyone is so ridiculous.
Each subspecialty has its jargon. Fashion has its own language, learn it and respect it, or start your own forum.

'Worn with a red lip' gets me all aerated.
Bravo, Dona
Nothing humble about my bragging btw, I have an amazing wardrobe.

I think I must be a bit gullible - I'd rather buy a Breton top than a striped t-shirt.
To clarify, I don't like the terms I quoted in magazine copy etc, not bothered what people use on MN.
Exactly Penelope, you can be French and interesting in a Breton. In a striped top you are just a comedy burglar.

Also "teamed with" , "on trend" "rocking " as in...
"She is so on trend, rocking the Breton stripe teamed with a slim trouser"

I love to colour block with colour popping skinnies and neutral Breton top
Ah, but if it is a genuine Breton top, with an authentication label, as bought by Granny for my DC, when on holiday and accompanied by a bilingual book (for a 4 yo) I have to refer to it as that, in an arch sort of way, you understand

I shall wear a breton today, with slim jeans and my 'ambers' (otherwise known as Ash wedge trainers)
I can't do a red lip though.
But I may wear a piece of statement jewell
