Uniqlo: what's hot and what's not?

Forgive me if this has been done to death ...

I often see Uniqlo mentioned on here but, as we haven't got a branch near us here oop north, I'm not that familiar with what's on offer.

Sooo - I'm going back to work soon after maternity leave, and I need to replenish my wardrobe. I have been looking at the Uniqlo website today, and I'm quite taken with the basics - simple designs, fuss free.

What do you recommend (not just workwear)? Does the sizing run large or small? And - boring, I know - does it all wash well?

Pants run large, and skirts, but they do offer specific sizing charts per garment which are 'often' correct.
Tops are ok, many seem true to size.
Not bad quality for the price.
Shirts are good and jeans get quite a favourable rep also.

I had a disaster handwashing the merino (shrinkage) but my mother managed it ok.

T-shirts are good and keep their shape well. I have lots of their knitwear and wash it in the machine with no problems (sorry teacakes!!). Jeans/cords are good and heattech is the best thing ever!

My fav uniqlo merino skinny ribbed red round neck cardi died last year after years of wear. Sad........keep looking to see if they have done it again......really wish they would (and if anyone can find me a replacement??)

i find the sizing generous. I'm a 10/12 and always get a small, occasionally a XS.

They are slippers Maureen.

Their shop.uniqlo.com/uk/store/clothing/easyleggingspants/women/ leggings trousers are just brilliant. Smart enough for work and so comfy. i could buy these in every colour but only have dark grey at the moment.

Their jackets are often really good - soft structured and easy to wear.

found their cashmere mix jumpers a bit pilly though.

other than that I always go there for plain basics.

Like slippers but not as fluffy and more robust Grin

I am a cashmere snob and their cashmeres pass muster with me. Everythng has a tenner off at the moment, google for the code.

I had a jumper that totally shrank at 30 degrees so no more wool - I like the long-sleeved thermals though.

I bought some long sleeved heatech tops just before xmas and they have been great. The length is good on them so I dont get a draught up my back. I got some socks as well and they have washed fine. I am an 8-10 and got small in the tops and they have been ok but i could have probably just got away with an xs .
